"After an extensive review of the situation and extenuating circumstances, we determined that Mr. Masiello executed poor judgment but did not intentionally misrepresent himself in applying to the college. After participating in graduation ceremonies at the University of Kentucky, he enrolled in summer courses with the intention of completing his degree, but never followed through to make sure that the degree was awarded," Manhattan president Brennan O'Donnell said in the statement.
How did Masiello "not intentionally misrepresent himself"? Being 10 credit shorts is way beyond a simple bookkeeping mistake or misunderstanding. It sounds like the Jaspers are embarrassed beyond belief and are trying to spin their way out of it - as opposed to taking the hit and letting Masiello go.

Well, if I were Manhattan there is one guy I wouldn't be embarrassed by, and that is Mike Francessa. Read in this thread that he was killing Manhattan. Well he also killed Met's player, Daniel Murphy for missing a second game, in order to stay home with his wife and baby. Wife had just delivered the baby, via a C-Section operation. So I wouldn't put too much stock in what Mike says. In fact I'm not sure he could find Manhattan College if he had to drive there w/o a GNS.

I hope the Student Section takes advantage of this next year when Manhattan comes to New Ro. I'm hoping for some "College Dropout!" and "LIAR" chants. Or something to that effect. Have our students show up in caps and gowns chanting "Prevaricator!"

Hopefully Steve Masiello fully realizes and appreciates what the administration at Manhattan College has done for him. Will be interesting to see if this episode makes him more humble and the arrogant persona is lost. What happens if he does not complete the 10 credits before season? Can he have contact with current players or recruits during his leave? In my opinion still a mess.

The only reason I brought it up was because at least it wasn't going away quietly and the jaspers were taking some heat for their decision

The students should hold up paper diplomas behind the Jaspers bench all game long to mess with Masiello.

How about our student section hold up around 50 of those Il Duce posters directly behind the Manhattan bench. This way every TV shot of him prancing around with his arms folded, chin out and the arrogant expressions will be obvious to all TV viewers !!! What an incredible resemblance !!! Not saing that he is evil person though.

I think Coach should implement the Manhattan play - pass the ball around the perimeter for 34 seconds, and finish with an alley opp to Shaq Scott. Then wipe the sweat off the brow as you go back on D. (It's the off-season)
