Funniest thing there was the ref putting the whistle back in his mouth, as if that was going to help.

The final regular season game at St. Peter's should be quite interesting. Hopefully IW will be back by then. I'm sure the Peacocks will be looking for revenge, but they have only themselves to blame for a memorable "choke" job -- up by 4 with 8 seconds to play in regulation. Once the game was tied at the end, it seemed that the air went out of the St. Peter's team - they shot 1-8 in the overtime period. Next game with them, we need to be firing on all cylinders early, take a lead and hold it.

This was considered newsworthy by a blog. After dipshit Soup was begging them to post it. Is that supposed to be noteworthy? This will get about 15 seconds of attention.

Who decides if any punitive action is taken?
The MAAC or NCAA?

Josh Newman ✔ @joshua_Newman I'm being told by the MAAC that any punishment off the Iona-St. Peter's incident will be a sportsmanship issue, not a fighting issue. I'm going to assume that the MAAC will assign a more competent referee crew for the game at St. Peters.

Can see them waiting until then and suspending English and Williams as well as Washington.

Having looked at the replay carefully a number of times, it appears Washington quickly gets into English's face after Desi's shot. IBN and Ryden immediately go to separate the two. As they do, Dominique grabs Ryden's shirt from the back and turns him around. Ryden puts up a hand to tell for him to stop. In the mean time Desport and Patterson circles around to the back of the scrum to go after Iona players. This was definitely not a one-sided affair.
I am surprised the refs all didn't leave the court the minute the buzzer sounded as they are required to if the game's outcome doesn't hinge on a last moment call.
None of this excuses the poor sportsmanship from either side. If any action is taken against players, I believe the league also has the responsibility to discipline the referees for their bad job in controlling the game. Sherman's after=the-game statements about Laury also deserves a reprimand by the league office. No one should represent the league if they express a public bias against any of the schools or individual athletes.
