Neubauer sounds like a solid guy who can coach. PL still in play for Fordham. Not with this roster: RT @donniedwyerwicz: Did research on Neubauer's EKU roster. 5 JUCO kids and 1 transfer from USF. That will work in the Bronx.

GuyF, do you think Fordham makes the move to the Patriot League? If not how does this play out staying in A10? Not seeing any change in level of success in A10 foreseeable future especially with Paschall leaving and maybe others out the door.

Just saw a report that Manhattan's Rasheen Davis is in the mix for an assistant coach position. Would be a big hit for the Jaspers

I'll say this again. If Paschall stays, Fordham is going to be good next year. NIT very possible. Long shot for NCAA. Maybe 5% chance.

reksonn, if I grow wings I can fly. Delusional. Paschal not staying. Unless Fordham changes league affiliation not making CIT. They get what they deserve.

I agree with Rekson, somewhat. First, Paschall has to stay. But if he does they should be much improved, but no way do they contend for a post season berth. Their biggest need, imo, is recruiting a vg PG. So naturally who Neubauer hires for his staff, will be essential. Davis would be a great hire, but I hope Manhattan is able to retain him, just like I hope we can keep Jared. Neubauer needs assistants who have ties to the NY Metro area. And even though they'll improve, most objective looks will rate them as being a year away from a better than .500 record. Fordham faithful will be able to paraphrase Winston Churchill (b/t/w, I saw the Churchill play in NYC, last week and it's VG). Is this the End, or the beginning of the end, no, but perhaps it is the end of the beginning. Of course if they lose Paschall, they'll be setback a year. JMO.

Agree that they have some pieces but no way do they make a quantum leap here. As for Paschall, After the year they had maybe, just maybe he wants to be more or less guaranteed that he plays for a winner. Lastly, in regards to JG IMO he would not go back to Fordham. Why would he? He's part of something special here and I think that when he moves on it will be for a top assistant at a "player" from a bigger conference or to be a head coach.

Villanova and Providence are interested in Paschall.
Villanova. Providence. Fordham. Which one doesn't belong with the other two?

jimsouls, still waiting for your info on the LaSalle gym/arena. They play at the Tom Gola Arena. It seats 3,400, which makes it substandard dump a la Rose Hill. And yes, it's hurt LaSalle basketball. In Philly, no one cares about LaSalle basketball. I was recently talking to a couple Villanova fans who said this very thing. I'll grant you that LaSalle has been a little better than Fordham in the A10, mainly because the location isn't as wretched as where Fordham is located. Both schools need to go back to the MAAC, because, in terms of men's basketball, they are dragging the A10 down. Plus, the A10 already had the Philly market. As for the New York market, the A10 should just go without it because there's no school capable of delivering it. A10 would be better of with both, especially conference RPI killer Fordham. Rose Hill needs to go, and a lot of people feel that way. Remember last year's New York Times piece? This is what P.J. Carlesimo had to say about Rose Hill in that article. “I love it, but I think most people would say, ‘Come on, you can’t have a major Division I program playing in a place like that,’ ” said the former N.B.A. coach P. J. Carlesimo, who played and coached for the Rams. “I do think it’s a real problem.” He continued, “I love it, but I’m probably one of the few people who love it.”

I went to a lot of LaSalle games during the Lionel Simmons era. The played at the Philadelphia Convention Center. It wasn't much, but seated a lot more people than Tom Gola. So they left the MAAC for a bigger conference, yet moved to a smaller "arena." No wonder Speedy Morris wound up his LaSalle coaching career with eight straight losing years.

jim, my point is and was is that, with the right coach, you can win, regardless of the gym (FU, St. Joes's, La Salle) or location (Bonnies) or both (Duquense). Rose Hill at least is housed in a beautiful building, and looks great from the outside. It's just too easy to blame the facilities when you keep losing. Fordham, if they are not going to renovate or build, should try to turn a negative into a positive. Go small and turn RH into a PIT, with the student section behind the benches and closer to the court. Make it a place where opponents hate to play.

According to the Fordham message board, their new coach met with the existing staff and told them that no one would be retained. Hope they land somewhere, as it's usually the assistants who are left holding the bag when a head coach is fired. And often the HC leaves with money being owed to him.
