Does anyone have any info on McGill? Hows his game look? Last Spring it was said here that he was a Ced upgrade. I hope that's true. If Rountree, Washington, Bessick, and MCGill are all as good as advertised, this team could be like the 2012 at-large team. Maybe better since TC now has more DI experience. It's going to be an interesting season. These days right before the season starts are filled with such anticipation. Don't think he's impressed so far. Still has a long way to go with work ethic. Should be fine by end of season once he gets used to D1 expectations. Work ethic aye? He must have really been in TC's doghouse early on.

I saw Ricky play this past summer, and thought he looked pretty good. Not as fast or as good a shooter as CC, but stronger. At the time I thought that he was a year away. However, in fairness, he had only been playing with the team for a couple of weeks, so maybe I didn't get to see the real Ricky McGill. That is why I'm looking forward to seeing the team practice tomorrow.

Re-watched last years at-Niagara game. I know IW didn't play, but to me it showed the need to get a few good minutes out of McGill or Procter in order to be a high caliber team. Maybe Rountree's defense will mitigate the need, but I'm not convinced.

Heard AJ and Bessick were the high scorers and we beat st Francis by 50+ points Tau.....If what you heard is verified our optimistic view of the coming season is indeed worthy..... St. Francis of NY was 23-12 last year and lost to Richmond in the 1st round of the NIT and their outlook for this season was high...Their RPI jumped from the low 200's to the mid range 100's...A 50# victory against a respectful opponent even on your home court is impressive....

I think McGill is a more natural ball handler compared to Ced...but, even though he is a good shooter, he is not as good an outside shooter as Ced... very few are. I have been following McGill since he was a kid and he has the tools to be a very good MAAC player. Clues system is very different than what McGill ran at Spring Valley and I think it takes some time to adjust. Remember this kid was a stud at SV the moment he walked into the school. This is the first time he has been in a program where PF's can actually run the point, everyone can shoot and is athletic... he is going to have to adjust to the system, the speed of the Div 1 game and the size and strength of the players at this level. Spring Valleys school district is a zoo and I do not think it prepares kids well for college so I think that adjusting to college life is a little tougher on SV kids than it is for Prep kids or kids coming out of the Catholic schools. McGill is a winner... if he puts in the effort, makes the required adjustments, he will be a major part of this team and a very good MAAC player.

LOL. D2 STAC up by 30 over SJU with 4 minutes left. 90-58 final!!! Do you think Braziller and all the other Mullin/St. Chicken lovers in the media will tweet about this once an hour for weeks like they have of every possible recruit. I'll have a nice sleep tonight after seeing this score. Maybe it actually will be fun this season seeing the ridiculous overdone coverage we will get of a bad college basketball program. It may just be one game but after that showing if you had me place a bet on whether Mullin can coach, I would bet against it. Good Night!!!

At this point, I'm hoping he can help to fill A'J's shoes next year. He won't have to shoulder much of a burden on this year's team, I don't think.

It may just be one game but after that showing if you had me place a bet on whether Mullin can coach, I would bet against it. Good Night!!! I wasn't overly surprised by this. Check out my posts on the New York College hoops thread. I couldn't understand the optimism on the three STJ boards. I didn't think it would be quite this bad, though. I knew they'd lose, but not that badly. That's because they didn't have Lovett. This guy is really good. He's like a Scott and a Momo rolled into one, except he might be an even better passer then Scott. He's the best ballhandler in STJ history, and the best passer since Mullin himself. I mean he's REALLY good!! And they didn't have him tonight. Other then him, though, we have no talent. Lavin left us with no players. None! Nobody knew Lav made a deal with Rysheed not to go to class in the Spring. No players. They had to scramble in April and May just to get a roster of players for this year. It doesn't have anything to do with CM's coaching ability. It's going to be a long and painful year for us STJ fans. Didn't mean to make your night Joe bird. LOL. Just kidding. Have fun. I predicted this last Fall.

St. John's loss is BAD for Iona. And for College BB in the NY Metro area. It's obvious that TAU and Reksonn should go to sleep and wake up at next Spring's signing period. Unfortunately, I'm sure that's what the local media will do, as well. And in so doing they'll miss Iona's magical season. I hope it doesn't happen, but fear it will.

We have a stacked team with tons of potential, a loyal and talented coaching staff, an NBA prospect, an exciting brand of basketball, and are only days away from opening tip. Why are we even bringing up SJU hoops? It has no relevance whatsoever to Iona at this stage, and the only reason I can think of is that most people connected to Iona hoops still have this inferiority complex deep down with the Johnnies that they can't shake.
Why else would this topic even be the slightest blip on our radar days before our first game? They got smoked by a crap team in a meaningless game. Who cares and why does this affect us?
Forget SJU, forget Fordham, let's just give Iona and the MAAC our undivided attention and support.

No, I don't have a hint of an inferiority complex - they sir, have a superiority complex.
