Don't know who his source is, but Tony, who runs the Siena board, is posting that Iona played mostly seven guys (not much depth) against Princeton, and lost. And it wasn't close. I'm posting this not because of the scrimmage, but just wondering who Tony's source is. Does anyone know?

I'm posting this not because of the scrimmage, but just wondering who Tony's source is. Does anyone know? Tony is a clown, ignore him. Scrimmages are practices against another team with refs, and a lot depends on who is available to play and what the coach wants to work on that day. Strong programs like Iona's are generally focused on using the scrimmages, in large part, to work on specific things and to give certain players some PT to see what they can, or can't, do. Program's like Siena may have a different focus in scrimmages, given their struggles. If AJ goes 50 against Valpo and we win Tony will be posting about a scoring imbalance. One thing is clear. Tony and the Siena board appear to be obsessed with Iona.

I'm posting this not because of the scrimmage, but just wondering who Tony's source is. Does anyone know? Could be his own imagination. You have to take stuff posted by guys like this with a grain of salt. It could be true. Did he identify which 7 guys played, and why only 7? Did he give any context? Do we know what Cluess may have been working on? The point of the "secret scrimmage" is to allow coaches to experiment and work on weaknesses in games that don't matter, where the fans can't judge the results. It gives coaches freedom. You have to realize that other fans, especially the Siena guys, NEED Iona to falter or disappoint in order to have hope coming into the season. Siena is playing Duke and Wisconsin and, barring a miracle, will start out 0-2. Obviously Iona with all the pre-season attention, is their bogeyman. They are obsessed with us because we are the team to beat. You don't hear him talking about how St. Peter's did in a scrimmage. I haven't even heard if St. Peter's has played a scrimmage. The season is starting and these guys need as much hope as they can get. MTS who's green and gold optimism borders on lunacy is all in. I'm sure he is fantasizing about Siena cutting down the nets at Cameron Indoor even as we speak. Because Clareth will drop 50 on Duke. Even KK who is the most objective and level headed of the bunch spends half his time on the MAAC board twisting himself into a pretzel to come up with stats on why Iona won't be any good. And maybe we won't be - who knows? I personally expect us to struggle integrating six new guys into the system. We can win at Valpo and Oregon state, but I don't expect it. We'll be underdogs. But if we start 2-0, Tony will be handing out nooses on the Siena board. They need every bit of hope they can muster at this point. And I understand that. If everyone were talking about how great Siena will be this year, I'd be doing the same thing. Now Monmouth has a good, talented team and no one is talking about them other than the guy on twitter. Got to think they are seething seeing us get all the publicity. They will have a major chip on their shoulders. So be it. We have to have the courage to use the OOC to build the team for March. And frankly if we struggle that may be a good thing for down the road, if the team stays together and trusts each other and works through its weaknesses and doesn't cast blame for mistakes or losing. Every team has flaws and all you can do it work to mitigate them and try to dictate the style of play that favors you.

Tony has no idea what is going on at Siena, never mind Iona.

Personally I love hearing MTS talk about how Cluess/we "choke" in March. This is coming from a guy who can't muster the courage to go on a job interview.
