Valpo wins 63-57. If Valpo beats Ore. St. by six and Ore. St. beat us by 20, Valpo should beat us by 26.

Maybe in 1905 - in OT's heyday. My dad used to talk about the 1950 CCNY team that won both the NIT and NCAA Tourneys. Care to weigh in OT? [CHELS......CCNY.......NYU.......ST.John were the biggest names in town, and were always among the Nation's top teams....They always filled The old garden...Point scandals slowly brought an end to that era....Along with it brought the birth of area scheduling problem as the big boys began getting beat occasionally by lesser schools.......To avoid these embarrassing losses they would slowly drop them from their schedules resulting into many years of the demise of natural rivals.... Hopefully with the passing of time new coaches will not be so selfish and once again allow the thrills of metro basketball.....

Drexel drops to 0-4, losing to UNC Asheville 85-66. I watched the first half of this game and Drexel overcame a 12 point deficit to lead 38-34 at the half on 54% shooting. They score most of their points in the paint (they only tried one 3 point attempt in the half) have good speed and a freshman guard, Terrell Allen, who penetrates well, can finish at the rim and draw fouls. He ended up with 19 points on 7-10 shooting with 6 assists. One of their bench players, Sammy Mojica scored 16 points in 21 minutes. I think that despite their 0-4 record and low RPI, they are a team that might give us some matchup problems when we play them.

OT, in talking about NYU, CCNY and St. John's, you overlooked LIU. They were coached by the legendary Claire Bee and had a great frontline of Sherm White, Dolph Bigos and seven foot, Ray Felix. They, imo, were right up there with the other three that you mentioned.

Battle of the Bronx not even on TV. Neither is the Fordham vs. STJ game which should be at MSG, but isn't. It's at RHG. Mullin inexplicably let Neubaeur dictate the terms. Must have been Mully's playground mentality.

And with that mentality, we may be soon be seeing a STJ-Iona game. Don't bet against it.
