The Pit. It's where Jimmy V won the national title! Good karma!

So let's make a conservative assumption that we go 1-2 in PR, we're assimilating a lot of new faces and we're not that ready to play, much like last fall in Cleveland. I think we look something like this for now, OOC:
Major #1 (Alabama?) Major #2 (Purdue?) West. Mich. / Wichita St. @ New Mexico (MWC) St. Joe's (A-10) @ William & Mary (CAA) @ Hofstra (CAA)
Would be great for our RPI if we could add another major, perhaps UConn, Pitt, or Minnesota, given the relationships of our new AD. How great would it be to play one of them in MSG?

The rumor a couple weeks back was Georgetown.

I will not be happy with 1-2 in puerto rico! This team needs to win 2 at least! Every team is just starting out and getting to know each other, no reason Iona has any excuses, especially with a 4 year starting PG.

The rumor a couple weeks back was Georgetown. Yup. We can beat them, especially with JT3 running the show

Here's a new name to add to the mix from a West Virginia paper: www.herald-dispatch.com/sports/x1558299390/Higgins-going-to-Pfieffer"SCHEDULING: Marshall's schedule for the 2011-12 season is coming together with several RPI Top 100 non-conference opponents being lined up. Potential foes for Marshall (No. 54 in last season's RPI) include No. 51 Belmont, No. 68 Iona and No. 107 Akron."

One more positive post: I love the schedule we are putting together: Marshall, St Joes, New Mexico, Puerto Rico, maybe Georgetown. This is the kind of schedule Iona needs to play to be in a situation where we can get an at large. These are tough but most the Gaels have a chance to win.
I really think all signs point to Cluess is shooting big. I never thought Willard felt that way. he just wanted to do well enough to move on to the next job. He never thought of Iona as more than a mid major, same with Welsh. Cluess thinks differently.

Agree. Those who've read my posts the past decade or so have heard me sing the same song--play the strongest damn schedule you can possibly play. When you expect to be a 20+ win team, that's doubly true. Load it up and see what happens. If you take your lumps, so be it--it'll humble you for MAAC play. But if you win a couple of those games, you're on the nation's radar.
And we are DEFINITELY capable of winnig a couple of those games.

A win at New Mexico would be huge. Borderline top 25 team, very tough place to play. That would open some eyes.

CT bill you are right. New Mexico may be toughest game on entire schedule, tougher than any game in Puerto rico and maybe even tougher than at Gtown.

With the ability to now schedule other good mid-majors, let's also make sure we play 14 home games as most other MAAC members do!

Aaaand New Mexico isn't happening now, per a source. Scheduling difficulties.
Also, that opening MAAC weekend, we're making the dreaded Buffalo trip.
