I stand by me recent post...I will however apologize for using the word Rumor only. I should have added innuendo's also....
A true reading of pages of 1 tru 6 of this thread can lead to no other conclusion about the following players that have led to concerns, worries, or rumors of them leaving.
McGill.....Jenkins....Machado....Trinity....Dwight....
Such post as:
"You will have to wait"
"Of course I could be wrong"
"It is called a teaser"
"and that is a big if"
"can not go into more details yet"
Have led to this guessing game.
For the most part, I participated and enjoyed the thread....
I simply asked for a calmer and more reasonable approach, as I thought it was now confusing our fan base and posters...
I am at this time still trying to figure out Guy's statement that he should get my permission to open a thread.....It is at the least defensive in nature, and probable posted as Gaelfan suggested in haste.
As the season approaches, we are all probably getting a little edgy..It is IMO a good thing as I for one "Love the Fray. "

I know that Glover's got some work to do this summer to be ready to play for us come October. Whether he does that work at Eastern Utah or at Iona is irrelevant. One thing we can surmise about all this is getting in and staying in school are both in the hands of Mr. Glover. For his sake, the teams and us fans let's hope he can accomplish both, because it sure sounds like he can add a ton of value to this roster. |

oldtimer, I don't want to speak for Guy; however, you may be taking offense where none was intended.
If I am reading it correctly, I suspect that Guy's ("Next time I'll run all my thread-starting posts by you for approval.") comment was intended toward GaelFan rather than yourself.

Next time I'll run all my thread-starting posts by you for approval. That's not necessary. You generally do a great job with your posts. Just try to think of the consequences of your post before hitting the button.  There are no "consequences"; this is a message board. All I did was report what I'd heard--that a player MAY BE leaving. It was serious enough to the point where our own KEVIN WILLARD was trying to talk the kid into staying at Iona, last I heard. That said, I've had no updates to this since I reported it. The idea of the post was that it was a "be prepared, because this may happen" sort of post. Yes, it raises speculation as to who it could have been, but in my estimation no one in our program is irreplaceable right now--including Machado and Aejo. We had the bodies and the staff in place to withstand anything. The future is bright and anyone who thinks he is better suited elsewhere is welcome to do so, though it would be a mistake because of what this team can achieve as it stands now. |

I am as much an Iona basketball fan as anyone on the planet, but methinks you guys are going WAAAAAAAAY overboard here. As an aside, I have already explained my position several times, but I'll do so again, using Glover as the example. I got the info and was asked not to name names, so I put the "innuendo" out there for others to dig, and sure enough, Glover's name was revealed not long after. It should also be noted that I am also the one to clarify once the name was revealed that I said he MAY BE joining us, as his academics are not 100% in order yet. It was Tau who stated with more certainty that he's on board. I can only hope he is dead on with that report. Re any potential departing players, the approach was the same--plant the seed, and let the others reveal the info. The name was not revealed by anyone, which to me is GOOD NEWS, in that there is not very much smoke and therefore perhaps no fire. People who are critical of those who try to report info here ahead of the curve (read: media) have to understand that that info usually will come from someone quite close to the program, and as such MY SOURCE MUST BE PROTECTED, and if my source requests that I do not name names, I do not name names. You may consider that "unfair", but I'd rather have a warning of potential bad news (or GOOD news, for that matter) than to just have it hit. I repeat that I am surprised that some such as IC59 have not posted the name of the potential departee. I didn't expect this to linger any longer than the Glover story did. I guess bad news makes the rounds a bit slower. In any event, I'll try to get an update and will post a less cryptic reply for those whose panties are bunched a shade too tight. |

Guy, two things:
1. With a new coaching staff, I have no/zero sources.
2. Being kept busy with babysitting duties. Three girls, (one a 10th month old), so I haven't been able to get over to the school very often, other than my one disappointing visit. Hope to make it over this Wednesday or Thursday. And with Live Recruiting on I doubt that I'll see any coaches around but who knows.

I am going under the assumption that some of our sources overlap, meaning that I'd assumed you'd get the info with only moderate research. |
