should we change this thread to Vermont Basketball? Who cares ? Really we just upgraded this program with a recruiting class, the best Iona has seen in 40 years and we are talking about Vermont Basketballl that plays in a conference that until this year was so inferior to the MAAC
That was my point, hat said strive to be Vermont, I say Wichita st or VCU
I actually said "I would settle for being Vermont, year in and year out 20 game winner." I stand by it. Yes Wichita and Gonzaga are elite programs, definitely worth striving for, but I would be happy with Vermont's consistent success. 12 straight 20 win seasons, 2 ncaa victories. Not much different than what we did under Cluess, just keep us a consistent winner.

So we should strive to stay the same, I hope to strive higher

Amauri Hardy - 6'2" Lefty PG out of UNLV via Farmington Hills, MI. Graduate Transfer. Was a 4 Star recruit according to ESPN. Out of HS had offers from Cincinnati, Akron, Georgia, Seton Hall, VCZU, GT, Oklahoma State, St Peters, Stony Brook, Kent State, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan. Averaged 14.5 PPG to go along with 3.5 APG for UNLV this past season. Earned Honorable Mention MWC.
Iona is competing with Michigan State, Oregon, Memphis, Arizona, Maryland, USC, Wichita St, Ole Miss, DePaul, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Kentucky and Arkansas.
His younger brother, Jaden Hardy, is the No. 6 player in the class of 2021.
Two things: 1. Forget the roster, and having 14 guys on scholarship. Don't know if we'll be successful. but we seem to be trying to bring in a transfer or two, indicating that RP is not through recruiting, imo. Also, I have a feeling that there are a couple of guys willing to commit, but we are waiting on some long shot (probably) transfers. 2. Don't know about Hardy and his brother, but when I was a kid, the first series of books I read were "The Hardy Boys". Great stories and maybe an omen.
Ousmane committed to Rhode Island 2 days ago and has already been recruited over as the Mitchell twins from Maryland just transferred to URI. Maybe he opens up his recruitment again?
Samba Diallo, 6'7'' kid is transferring from UMASS. Kind of strange since he started 30 games last season playing 27mpg. Averaged 7ppg and 6rpg. Didn't really stand out in any other stats but is athletic and plays hard. Might be a good fit for the Pitino pressing defense style of play. Iona offered him out of HS

Pitino right now claiming these 6 are his only recruits. My gut still says 1 doesn’t work out and 2 kids leave and we fill with 2 grad transfers. He may want some hold over seniors both for some continuity, experience and so he can replace them next year with high rated guys he feels he can land after a full year of recruiting. We will see.
