Yes, no hand in the face. Maybe it's pure (mis)perception, but I and others feel like the other team always seems to have a guy who can be counted on to make the winning shot while falling backwards, 35 feet from the basket with a hand in his face. Super human stuff even without a cape, bottom of the net as the buzzer sounds. Woopee. Your basic recurring nightmare. Now back to objectivity, how often does Iona have that super human guy? Who was the last one? Its uncanny the amount of bad luck we've had over the years. Have we crossed an old gypsy woman or a voodoo priest or something? I don't believe in curses or that other nonsense. It is amazing though how guys simply nail these shots against us, when we can't seem to hit them when we are wide open. Guys who aren't even on good teams just drain these like they do it all the time. The buzzer beater by the Lithuanian kid for Syracuse, the five or six heartbreakers the year we were 2-26. Fairfield did it to us a couple of years ago ( I was at the game). Bryant on Sunday. Too many others to recount. Its amazing. And how often to you see teams shoot 98% FT's as a team? Almost never, yet its happened to us twice in four games dating back to the MAAC Tourney last March. And I'm not talking about 6-7, but 23-24 stuff. Sooner or later we are due for a stretch of uncommonly good luck. Its pure statistics.

Ok, so the anger over Sunday has subsided. Basically, I don't have a problem with either loss Fri. or Sat. Let's put the Bryant game in a box as an abberation, and let's go from here. 5 point dogs this morning. Let's play our game tonight.

There's an interview with TC on the official Iona website. No questions about lineup changes, injuries, etc. But he did say we've practicing our free throws. He didn't say if that practice (FT) was at the end of practice when the players were fatigued. Just being in a familiar environment should help.

Make it real easy for Richmond. But at least you guys would be happy.
