Just saw this.
Wonder if they could ban fans at maac tourney? They also could just have people sit 6 feet from each other because there will be enough room, LOL!

Iona's so concerned about keeping clean they're closing a week early, and Siena basketball is so dirty they just got hit with more NCAA violations.

Joebird, where did you hear/read this? Doesn't seem to be on the official Iona site.

Tried to get tickets and there were not many available in the lower sections. Ticketmaster already has seats blocked every 6 feet! Just kidding, probably Maac blocks those and gives them to the allotment for all 11 schools, and most won't sell, especially Tuesday and Wednesday.

Yes it is. While there is no need for panic, there is also no need to be dismissive. No one knows where this thing is headed, so it makes sense to be cautious.

Different venue the middle 4 sections are saved there are no seats, I am 100% sure you will be able to get seats in those sections on game day

If a school closes for the rest of the semester what does that mean for the basketball team? I guess if they are closed but doing school online there is an excuse for the team to still be practicing and playing, but what if they completely close? Also what if they quarantine students, can players still play, I doubt it? If we don't win the maac we may have picked the right year! I said a week or two ago I thought it was 50/50 the NCAA would play in front of fans and I'm starting to think the odds are more in favor of no fans, especially for a location like Madison Square Garden in late March. The next few weeks are going to be a unique time for this country and the world.

There is a real hysteria going on nationally about coronavirus sparked by the media's sensationalism. I do believe Iona's move was warranted because of the cluster in New Rochelle. I don't remember ever seeing this kind of coverage during the Sars and Ebola outbreaks both very serious threats. So far, 18, I believe, of the 22 deaths nationwide have occurred in one nursing home in Washington State. I wish the media would concentrate on educating the public in distinguishing between routine colds and COVID-19. And giving info on means of avoiding spread of the virus. Also what can't be used safely as disinfectants now there have been runs on the usual ones. Sorry for the rant.
