New ep of the podcast recaps our lost weekend and previews the Mount game with Mount PBP guy Adam Pohl. Youtube: www.youtube.com/@ionahoopspodcast/Apple: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ionahoops-com-podcast-with-guy-falotico/id1515996868 Spotify: open.spotify.com/show/2IXy4WdnAIqExBii6KJxgm I'm famous! Mentioned on the podcast! One crazy thought of mine to call out is I feel this buzzer beater curse and the post season failures has all happened since the Louisville game, as it seems like Valvano sold Iona's soul to win that game. The curse on Iona has been that we will have much success but be doomed to always lose as a underdog in the post season and to always lose on any prayer shot that can change the fate of the game. It's the only explanation to me as to why these both keep happening over the span of 40 years! With this nutty thought in my head, It seems appropriate to me that we lose on a buzzer beater on the day we honor Valvano! Not a Joebird Buzzer Beater

So is this year the result of Iona selling it's soul to the devil the last few years?

Don’t understand why the following for your podcasts has fallen off. They’ve gotten better each season and are extremely informative. The podcast is a must for anyone interested in Gael hoops and there is no forum better at keeping us in the know. Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work Guy…

My problem is my hearing. When I try to raise the volume, my wife complains, even though I still can't hear it very well. For others, it probably has to do with the struggles of the team. Like the ad for the Investment Firm, "We do better when our clients do better".

Yep, I’m sure he does but he’s not happy about it. Just like declining attendance. What we call Fair Weather Fans!

Thanks, boys.
I mean, if Iona were just about any other school in the MAAC, they wouldn't be worthy of a podcast. I do get that.
Also should not that we actually dip during most seasons--the offseason ones draw more, always have, and always will. So, another thought is to change how I do things in season, as the recap/preview formula doesn't sem to be interesting enough.

I ask this question, probably knowing the answer, but have you recently asked TA to appear or have one of his assistants appear. Possible selling points for them to appear: 1. If TA, then I'd make the pitch, that it would be a great way to help increase interest/attendance. 2. If an AC (or a couple of coaches going forward) my pitch would be that it would be a way of helping their careers by getting them some pub. With the team struggling I would think that you are dealing from a position of strength. Iona BB needs help and your podcast can provide that.

Harder to do that in-season, especially with them struggling.

I would imagine having Tobin at no cost on the podcast conflicts with the NIL Tobin Time benefit.

It would give Tobin air time to promote NIL/Tobin Time.

It would give Tobin air time to promote NIL/Tobin Time. Agree with Super, kind of a conflict having Tobin on podcast. Honestly, the NIL Collective Gael Nation has to have him promote the NIL on their Twitter account. Other than having an assistant coach come on, which is difficult at this time, not sure what else can Guy do? Very few MM fan bases have the pleasure of having their programs have a weekly podcast during the season where you get to here clips from the Pressers, tidbits about the program, recap of games and especially having guests come on to preview upcoming games. Having been lucky enough to be on the podcast a few times, and conversations with Guy, I have seen firsthand how much effort goes into producing the podcast and tracking down guests. Disappointing to hear the numbers have gone down. Unfortunately, the team's performance is likely the reason. Iona twitter has been rough on Tobin and the staff lately. One thing to critique the play during the game, lots of the tweets about Tobin and staff, in my opinion, are really over the top. Maybe those of us on Twitter can do our part and help by retweeting and hyping the podcast when the new podcasts drop FYI, The NIL collective is holding a drawing for 4 table side seats for the MSM game this Sunday. Everyone who has contributed to the collective is eligible. Winner being announced 5PM Friday.

Assuming that Guy receives info via "Tobin Time", and I'm wondering if he could include that info in the Podcast's Iona Iotas section?
