Thought for sure that Guy's presence would have been enough to end the Lady Gaels three game winning streak. He was able to inflict more than the usual number of turnovers, but it seems that his mojo is losing some power, as the Iona Women came away with a 10 point win. O is for offense, and today for Iona that meant Otkhmezuri and Oborilova.

And just about everyone said it would have been much easier if Guy wasn't there. On a more serious note, people should follow Guy's lead and go to the Women's games. One thing I noticed is that they seem to do a better job (than the Men) in setting their feet before shooting three's.

This was my first Women's game that I've been to this season. And over the years I've complained about the level of officiating for Women's BB, and yesterday was no different. But, what I was impressed with was that the Iona coach let the refs know about it, when they made a bad call. And that is something that former coach, Billie Chambers never seemed to do. Probably the most successful Women's coach in MAAC history, Brian Giorgis (Sp?) did that all the time. Keep it up coach Ang.

Forgot to mention at yesterday's game with not many in the Student Section, I got a much better look at the Pep Band. Don't remember the numbers but it is much bigger than I thought. All I'll say is that we've come a long way in musical support.

All I'll say is that we've come a long way in musical support. Glad you brought up growth of the Pep Band. This is a good opportunity to address the importance of squad size for all the performing groups at basketball games. The band, cheer, dance, BSU and Irish dancers. These are students and presumably outgoing personalities who can contribute to attendance at games. They have friends, followers and family who come to see them and it only adds to our attendance. Bigger the squad, bigger attendance is my theory. The current group sizes seem better than in the past. They are also very entertaining…

Wow, Iona women home vs Stony Brook, led 38-32 at half and go on to lose 71-49. For you non-math whizzes, that's 39-11 in the second half.

Guy, and to make matters worse, in their last TWO games they have committed 55 turnovers. In the Niagara game they ran into a buzzsaw, pressing defense. Today, against a VG SB team (9-1) it is more a case of careless ball handling. And poor decision making. They have decent talent, just have to play smarter.
