Even a more impressive win the the record setting victory over Rider. A tough, gritty Siena team defended the Gaels very well and still they toughed it out and found a way to win. This may very well be a special team. Mager cooled off to only 6-11 from three. A mere 54%

This game reminded me of why I hope the MAAC tourney isn't moved to Albany. Brings back memories of free throw differential in favor of Siena. Going into the 4th quarter we were down one and had ONE FT ATTEMPT. Siena had 18 ATTEMPTS. Just too much of a home court advantage. I know we were able to overcome it (MAAC Tourney), but I'm sure it helped Siena make it to the finals.

Her name is pronounced major but spelled Mager. I thought she liked to be called Dutch! 🤪

But we're talking about Siena and Albany. In yesterday's game we did attempt 20 3pt shots while Siena only attempted 19. Like I said I hope the tourney isn't moved to Albany.

Never in doubt. St. Peter's remains winless. 14-5, 9-1.

Hope that some of you are interested as our next game is Saturday at 1PM at home against Manhattan. Iona will be celebrating 50 years of Women's BB. Also, it should be a good game and a chance to see our "Big Three" in action. As far as I can tell all three will be gone after this season.
Don't know how many former Iona players will be in attendance, but I remember one player from the early years, Maggie Muldoon, who went on to coach the Women's team at Yale. And what is mostly forgotten is that when WBB first started they played with the same BB as the Men. After a few years they started using a smaller BB, which is used today. It would be great to have many fans in attendance.

Back to good Iona news, Gaels win again today against a pretty decent Manhattan team. Despite some excellent Jasper defense that held the Gaels to 42% shooting and 33 from 3, the Gaels pretty much controlled the game the whole way. Final score 63-49. 15-5, 10-1!

Keep your fingers crossed because with about a minute left in the game Juana went down with an injury and had to be helped off the court. If we have to play without JC only JC can save us.
