Does anybody have any information as to this "hypothetical"?
I recently played at Winged Foot Golf Club and was told by numerous caddies who were present for the Iona College Alumni event that this move was all said and done.
I don't know what to believe, but I feel several on this board may have more information on if this move is really happening. Also, I would feel like there would be an announcement if it was really "all said and done".

If true, they should probably wait until after this season. Knowing how Ensor loathes Iona, unlike Monmouth, he’d probably ban us from the MAAC tourney.
The crowning moment of his departure.

Good point, but I don't think Iona will have a choice. Now is the right time to make this leap, it may be now or never. It will help find much higher level coaches to be interested once Pitino retires, especially if Iona has success in the A-10. Just noticed the Atlantic 10 just added Lacrosse and only has 4 members plus two associate members. This makes Iona a bit more attractive, since they could become the 7th team in the A-10 lacrosse league.

I think it keeps Pitino at Iona another 4-5 years, then he turns it over to someone who doesn’t consider it a stepping stone job, but other than Tim Cluess I don’t know who that could be.

If we join the A-10 it becomes an attractive job. Make the jump and we’ll schedule Manhattan & Siena annually to keep the MAAC nerds happy.

If this comes to be true, Guy will be heading to the Winged Foot Caddyshack for all his inside info going forward! That would be quite the podcast.

If things stayed as they are today I can see your argument for staying in the Maac, but they aren't going to stay the same. There will be the Have's (Power 5) and the Have nots (maac), and an in between group that will be sort of like the D1 football schools who aren't in the power 5, this is what the A-10 will likely be. In Football the entire equivalent group gets 1 spot in the 12 team Playoffs. I believe the equivalent in NCAA basketball is each league that falls in this group (maybe 5-7) have the potential to get a couple of NCAA bids and not have to play game 1 against a top 15-20 school. If we stay in the maac that's all game 1 of the NCAA tourney will ever be, a very likely loss. I think we need to get to the point where we get in the tourney every few years and win a couple of games each decade. As for the coaches yes we have had great luck, but really only Pitino came into the job as a high level coach. Not saying we will attract Pitino level coaches if we are in the A-10, but we could attract a step down who are willing to end their careers here. We should avoid the up and coming assistants, like Willard, who just look at Iona as a stepping stone, and shoot for a Cluess or 2022 Welsh, though IC59 when Pitino leaves Welsh may be too old, otherwise I like this thought. A-10 could blow up in our faces and make Iona a low end A-10 team, or it could boost us up to a perennial top 50 team, need to shoot for the latter and join if invited.
