Kris Johnson - 6'5" CG out of Grace Brethren and Upper Marlboro, MD and New World AAU that plays on the 3SSB Circuit. A tough and physical player who excels on both sides of the ball.
Offers: LIU, URI, Mount St. Mary's, Towson, Norfolk State, Interest:
Ty Bevins - 6'5" CG - out of Gwynn Park HS in Brandywine (MD). Ranked th in his class nationally by On3 composition rankings. Can shoot, pass, control the tempo of a game and has a very high hoops IQ.
Scouting Report: "Ty Bevins has a great frame and size for the guard position. At 6-foot-5, he has long arms and broad shoulders. Bevins has a smooth jump shot with range that extends beyond the three-point arc. His mechanics are solid and repeatable, both off the bounce or the catch. Bevins is also an excellent passer. He has natural floor vision, with touch to deliver passes from different angles all over the floor. Bevins can play on or off the ball and act as a primary initiator or a secondary initiator. He will need to continue adding strength, working on footwork, and consistent balance, but there is a lot to like here as Bevins is still young (an ’06 birthday) for his grade." - Jamie Shaw, ON3- 10/07/22
"Bevins had the shot of the day as he corralled the ball with seconds remaining off a miss and heaved a one hander from the corner that swished the net to give Gwynn Park a 71-68 win over Parkland. The 6-5 rising senior with offers from Temple, George Mason, Georgetown, NJIT and College of Charleston scored 10 points with that trey being the biggest of those. He has smoothness to his game in the way he can get to the rim and hit stepback jumpers, as he did to close out the victory." City of Basketball Love - Philly Live I Day Two St. Joe's Prep Standouts (June 17, 2023)
"2024 guard Ty Bevins recently completed a visit to George Mason. The New World product has been garnering plenty of buzz with his standout play during the HS Live Periods. Well-rounded & balanced backcourt prospect who affects the game in numerous facets. Reliable playmaker who plays at a composed pace while displaying a strong feel for the game. Excels in an opportunistic scoring role when taking advantage of what the defense gives him. Capable perimeter shooter with extensive touch, plus he has the craft, body control & float game to finish in the lane. Hampton recently offered the Maryland native as well." TONY MCNIFF - 2024 MADE Recruiting Report: Part Two - MADEHOOPS - JUNE 24, 2023
Jacob Hogarth- 6'9" PF - out of White Plains, NY and South Kent School. Plays AAU for Middlesex Magic. A strong, athletic, shot blocking machine. Tough to stop from scoring in the paint.
Scouting Report: "Hogarth is one of the most improved players in all of New England. He spent the first half of the season learning from and playing behind Papa Kante, Elijah Wilborn etc... However, as the year progressed he played valuable minutes for the NEPSAC AAA Championship team. He is uber athletic and is able to guard all five positions on the floor. He has an improving back to the basket game, but has excellent face up and ball skills for a player of his size. MM+/H- (MAAC, Big East, Big Ten, Pac 12)" : - New England Prep Schools Showcase 2023
Brant Byers - 6'8" SG/SF/PF out of Chambersburg, PA and Scotland Campus. Plays AAY for Team Thrill (Baltimore). A sniper from deep range. Can create space for himself when playing a midrange game. He is a good athlete that has worked hard on getting stronger.
Lewis Walker - 6'6" SF/PF - Out of Winston Salem Christian (NC). "Big Lew" is an undersized big with great footwork, a good jumper and good inside moves and soft scoring touch in the paint. Built like a tank and has good hands. Uses his body very well... plays very tough. Has a pretty decent handle.
Scouting Report: "The big sophomore from Winston-Salem Christian was fun to watch. He moves so well out on the floor for his size, he plays hard, he was fun to interact with, he felt like he wanted to be there and he was one of the best players that we saw for the camp. We like to see the younger guys play with toughness and an understanding of the game. Walker showed all of that." - Justin Byerly - North Carolina Preview Camp Player Profile - Hoop Seen 19, Oct 2021
"Walker has been on our platform dating back to a year ago at our North Carolina Preview Camp where he was named a top performer. He is such an interesting prospect because he can play multiple positions. He is a guy that can make shots from the perimeter but - with his bulky frame, he is nearly impossible to guard in the post. He is quick on his feet and can use his footwork to make the defense look silly. He can get out and push the ball on the break. Walker is an undersized big man but with the way he moves, there is a little Grant Williams in his game before Williams became a threat from the outside with the Boston Celtics. He is one to track in that 2024 class." - Justin Byerly- Top 16U Performers from the 2022 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions - Hoop Seen 18, May 2022

No idea how I86 does it, but another great scout on an Iona recruiting target Much appreciated
Questions for 86 and sharkey (or anyone else). In the scouting report you usually show about four recruiting rating services. Some have a star rating and some don't. My questions: 1. Do you think the ratings are valid? (Hopefully the answer isn't, some are) 2. Do you consider one service better for MM recruits?

None of them are really worth much IMO. More telling is what schools are recruiting the players.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.
Guy, thanks. Since I have very little knowledge about the various services, that was the main reason I asked the question. But I won't be surprised if 86 and/or sharkey feel that one or two are better than the others. Hopefully they'll let us know.
