I personally have no interest in following Iona basketball anymore. We are fighting an uphill battle. These kids are extremely selfish and have zero loyalty. Feel bad for them in a sense as they are in for a rude awakening. At this level, we will probably be looking at 8 new faces every year. And I’m sure we can get talent each of those years but what a tough job for a mid major coach like Tobin to be successful in this landscape. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him and many others call it quits soon. Just not worth it I would wait to see what Tobin brings in before you make any decisions. The whole NIL thing will take time for everyone to figure out and I still believe that some legal cases will make it through the courts before this gets fixed. We have three great players coming in next season. The staff did a great job with them and I am sure that we have a few nice surprises coming our way.

Today is a very tough day, but who knows maybe the restructured roster turns out better. We needed an awful lot to go right to turn the group we just had into a top maac team next year. Maybe having more scholarships is just what we need to get back to the level we are use to. I personally think all except Quigley were not game changers. I also like to have a point guard who shares the ball better than Quigley and maybe Menard or someone else is it. I agree for sure regarding the players who left. Most of them will be lucky to end up at D2 schools. But wow is it frustrating to see how clueless some of these kids are and what they will miss out on. It’s just so hard to get involved and continue rooting for these mid major programs

If that is the case we had a softer team than I thought. We don't need pussies....bring in some warriors. Hard to disagree with this. Tobin so disappointed and just shaking his head after that Manhattan game makes me think that he wonders how he recruited such a soft squad. I can't remember a time as an Iona fan (maybe not as long as some of you, but nearly 30 years for me) that I've felt as hopeless for the future as I do right now. Hopefully as they bring in some new players I feel differently, but at the moment.. just wow. I have a buddy who was in Army Special Ops at the highest levels. When people asked him about the selection process for Army SF and the Army's Special Missions Unit, he always said the same thing... "We don't necessarily look for the best guy... we look for the right guy!" He would then explain that the fastest, strongest guy with the best endurance and shooting skills would often fail selection. The right guys had great skills but the right mindsets, the ability to work independently if needed but also perform in a team environment well. Tobin has more time this season and I am sure he is looking for the right guys this time around. Trust me... some good things are in the works. Where there is chaos there is also opportunity! “Certa Bonum Certamen!”

I liked Guy’s idea of just recruiting grad transfers every year. This is ridiculous, how do you maintain fandom as a program when we only have these guys for a year? We are in the same exact situation as last year. Maybe no returning players as we wait on Sultan & Jean. Now we have to be “patient” again and wait until March until this team meshes (hopefully) Blame Tobin or not for this, it sucks regardless.

So it's only worth being a fan when the team is winning?
Wow.

So it's only worth being a fan when the team is winning? Wow. Definitely not how I feel. But c'mon. How are you supposed to have any attachment to a team if it starts over each year. Maybe it's easy for the blue bloods when you got NBA prospects on your team. But if something doesn't change we are simply a practice squad for bigger schools ready to be poached.

Have to agree with Broguy and Gaelhoops and probably many others who didn't voice this yet, really miss having players you see develop. I think that is why we all felt so fondly about Oz. The same will happen with Aranguren and Adawale if they stay, but we need more of this. 1 year players just don't do it, need a few to be here at least a couple of years. It really hurts how passionate you can get behind a team. This is going to hurt everything; attendance, season tickets, contributions. It's not Iona's fault, but 2 years of this and we are definitely on the bottom end of returning players since NIL became a factor.

Sounds terrible, but we would have amateur 4 year students playing. At this point, something to ponder.
