Saunders and Bates had the same goodbye note. Must have been written by the same person. Yup. All of the players notes were exact. This shit was all planned out...lol I thought they all looked the same (for the most part) last year too. Just assumed the school writes these and they tweet them. |

I said some; not suggesting all or most. I think it’s pretty clear that those on this board don’t have much insight into what’s going on with this. Perhaps. Then perhaps those with some insight will chose to enlighten us. |

Interested to see how this goes, but at the moment this is as disturbing as it gets. So now Tobin will get another pass because he will have a whole other team yet again next year? I am willing to be patient, but I doubt I can sign up for that again if that's how this consistently ends up. I am a dedicated Iona fan, but this may ruin it for me and I'm sure others. Very alarming. It’s pretty disturbing. Tobin does have a track record of success, so it’s probably unlikely that he suddenly became an ogre who players can’t bear to be around. However, if you recruit players with the wrong emotional makeup that’s on you as HC. We were a very soft team. |

What hurt was when these kids visited Iona, they didn't have any future teammates to scrimmage with, and spend time with, so it was impossible for the staff to see how they interact with other players. Unfortunately, in the same boat with only Aranguren and Adewale still on roster. Would imagine the staff will have to find a way to get a better feel on the new recruits |

If $200,000 to $400,000 in scholarships and housing isn't enough for these players, good bye! I worked my ass off to pay for tuition, commuted hours to work and then home every day to study. They can go ... themselves.
All I can say is thank God for guys like Oz.

Which is why it's important to remember that he had to bring in 12 guys, and youre going to have misses. Maybe we will go into next season with less expectations and just enjoy the ride. |

I personally have no interest in following Iona basketball anymore. We are fighting an uphill battle. These kids are extremely selfish and have zero loyalty. Feel bad for them in a sense as they are in for a rude awakening. At this level, we will probably be looking at 8 new faces every year. And I’m sure we can get talent each of those years but what a tough job for a mid major coach like Tobin to be successful in this landscape. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him and many others call it quits soon. Just not worth it

In his last press conference Tobin said that we were close to signing a couple of players. They host recruits all the time and did that influence some of the players to leave, I have no idea. Also, the staff has not been sitting on their asses waiting for the portal. They have been recruiting HS, Prep and JUCO players all season long. They have primary targets, backups targets for primary targets and even backup targets for the backups.

Entire situation is strange. Besides all the troll accounts, I noticed EVERY announcement by each kid transferring were EXACTLY the same, and ready to go within hours of the portal opening. Very strange and makes you think these decisions were made earlier and somebody wrote these tweets for the players. Weird Many of them are actually using the same NBA agents. They hand them a template to use. |

Today is a very tough day, but who knows maybe the restructured roster turns out better. We needed an awful lot to go right to turn the group we just had into a top maac team next year. Maybe having more scholarships is just what we need to get back to the level we are use to. I personally think all except Quigley were not game changers. I also like to have a point guard who shares the ball better than Quigley and maybe Menard or someone else is it. |

Outright says the reason guys left is Tobin. Could be right, could be a bitter parent or handler who has info about the situation. If you’re going to do stuff like that anonymously, hard for me to give you a lot of credence. Maybe Tobin was too hard on the guys and they didn’t like it. Different atmosphere out there these days. Guys can transfer at will. But they are also getting paid, or most of them, so maybe they’re a little spoiled. If that is the case we had a softer team than I thought. We don't need pussies....bring in some warriors.  |

Tobin so disappointed and just shaking his head after that Manhattan game makes me think that he wonders how he recruited such a soft squad. I can't remember a time as an Iona fan (maybe not as long as some of you, but nearly 30 years for me) that I've felt as hopeless for the future as I do right now. Hopefully as they bring in some new players I feel differently, but at the moment.. just wow. |
