I've been told by two fans, who know BB somewhat, that our schedule is weak. And, they base that opinion on the fact that we don't play 'name' teams other than WVU. I tried to explain that we play a strong mid-major sked without any cupcakes on it. Don't think I was successful with my argument.
I only mention that as I doubt that we'll draw non-Iona fans, other than fans of our opponents.

If these two fans who "know BB somewhat" think our schedule is weak, then I'll correct you and say they don't know BB at all.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.
Guy, I agree. But, unfortunately, they represent the type of fans that we're trying to get to come to games at the HAC. Could make the difference between 2K and 2.5K attendance. How do we educate them? And to make matters worse, the Knicks should be pretty good, this year.

Well, if they're friends of yours, I'd tell them that half these name schools they want to see us play aren't even as good in NET and KenPom rankings as several of the teams we're playing--and yes, it matters, as these are the tools the committee uses when selecting teams.
On the flip side, you can't make everyone happy. If people want to grumble about playing Colgate instead of Syracuse, whatever. And, quite frankly, there's no real difference between 2K and 2.5K for us anyway.

our schedule is a good schedule but not an exciting schedule.
be honest you aren't going to a fairfield / colgate game
Not a sexy schedule, for sure. However, this breakdown of the OOC schedule shows it to be a formidable MM schedule. I'd give up a few hundred uninformed fans at the HAc, to generate the metrics this schedule could produce should we be successful. ionagaels.com/news/2024/7/23/iona-mbb-announces-2024-25-non-conference-slate.aspx

There are fans out there that feel you don’t exist unless you’re a Power Conf school. Not sure if your friends are looking at the overall schedule or just the ooc games. Whatever the case, I have to believe there’s MAAC effect in your friends thinking.

Very solid schedule, if we go 6-5. That would be amazing. No gimmees in that schedule. I would think 4-7 might be likely
