Let the big schools and conferences break away as far as I'm concerned. Split up D1. Power 6s are basically PRO hoops now. Smaller schools in conferences like the MAAC can't afford to pay players. Hell some schools can't afford to pay their Teachers/Staff!
This is no longer NIL which was meant for players to cash in on their NAME IMAGE LIKENESS.
This is turning into pan handling to be honest. I don't mind donating a little bit for now, but if this gets worse I will reconsider.
Also remember, tuition at Iona is probably about 40k now, maybe 50 with room and board. Don't forget these players don't have to pay a dime of that while all other students have to take out loans.

Season tickets. BIG fan of Iona hoops forever. We donate to Iona on a regular basis. I'm having an impossible time accepting that I should be donating to NIL or "Greg Gordon" or "JQ" (just to use some names as an example), so they come here or want to stay here. Been donating with the sense that the business school is booming and the medical facility at Concordia is really going to be something special. NCAA ruined a good thing by allowing NIL to be a free for all.

1991, not to change the subject and I might even know you, but with your Iona BB background as a long time fan, I hope you would consider becoming a more regular poster on this Board. Your post above shows me that we would look forward to reading your 'takes' about Iona BB. Thanks.

I both hate it and contribute to it, so I guess... I'm the problem!?.!?.

If athletes are enrolled in 3 or 4 different schools, how can they possibly graduate? It's unlikely that any single school will accept all their credits upon transfer. I imagine the NCAA might need to waive graduation rate requirements to safeguard the interests of Power conferences.
But if these schools start accepting all credits for athletes, won't other transfer students feel discriminated against? It's a potential legal issue waiting to happen.
Once graduation rates plummet to an unacceptable level, I foresee major turmoil ahead.

I both hate it and contribute to it, so I guess... I'm the problem!?.!?. Ditto! My suggestions for contributors: Have more events like the VIP one scheduled this spring which provide access. Perhaps schedule a brunch with staff following a scrimmage this fall. Begin with an introduction of the players. Most of the swag was useless. Maybe a tee shirt, golf shirt, or sweater/jacket depending on contribution level.

If it were a traditional logo shirt or hat, I'd wear it with pride.

Am I correct that NIL gets paid immediately to a player in Year 1 and can just leave for another program in Year 2? When does a player collect his NIL dough? I think there should be better rules that a player has to stay with a program for multiple years (at least two years) and gets paid after at least two years or prorate it. Also, does anyone know if Greg Gordon collected his NIL even though he left the team?
