Well we've already played 3 games in 3 days in a tournament. Didn't turn out like we would've liked it, but it was Cluess and the team's first three games together. I'm sure they learned from it and we might be the only team in the league to have done that this year. So at least this won't be Cluess's first experience playing three games in three days and I know he's got a better handle on how this whole DI thing works by now and the team is a lot better than it was in Mid November.
We won out like Guy predicted and put ourselves in good position for next weekend. We know who we're playing. Good week of practice fellas and then let's get after it.

We won from the 2 seed in 2000. Go Gaels!!! I think in '06 we were the 2 seed also; wasn't Manhattan #1 and lost to St. Peters in the semi's.

MAAC Derby....1 1/4 mile....Purse.....$300,000. 3 year olds and upward. Conn. Downs...Bridgeport C.T.
Fairfield.....8-5......Steady as they come...Manages to win, but seldom dominates field..Great Jockey in E. Cooley.....Loves home track...
Iona..........Even Money.....Working gangbuster lately....Erratic at times, but when racing well, the fastest horse on the track....
Rider.........4-1......Talented horse with bursts of speed....Would be no surprise, but needs racing luck.....
St. Peter....8-1......Plodding type...Tends to bleed at times....Manages to win his share of purses, but needs a slow pace race...Muddy track will help...
Loyola.......10-1.....Runs well in lower level races, but this step up seems to be little out of his class...
Canisius.....12-1.....In and out experienced horse that has not lived up to its talent level...Will be retired after this race....Worth a wager in your pick 3 bet.....
Siena..........20-1....Won this race last year, but racing terrible recently..Will receive some wagers from die hard fans, but has seen better times....
Niagara.......35-1.....Improving rapidly, but little chance with older more seasoned horses...Veteren Jockey J. Mihalich will get the best out of this longshot horse...
Manhattan....50-1....Out of his class.....Will finish up the track....Tired horse that needs a long rest...
Marist...........100-1...Shown some improvement, but at this point of his career should be running in Allowence races.
Hey...we have a empty week...... ;D
Go Gaels!!!!!!

ghost, you are correct we were the 2 seed in 2006. I would have bet money that the 2005-2006 Gaels were the 1 seed -- and I'd have lost.
oldtimer, as long as we avoid the "back stretch fade" in both halves, we should hit the wire first. Well done!
Go Gaels!!!

This is the MAAC Tourney prediction from the TeamRankings website:
MAAC Championship Information 2011 MAAC tournament site: Arena at Harbor Yard, Bridgeport, CT 2011 MAAC tournament dates: Match 3rd-7th, 2011
In our most recent calculations, we project Fairfield as the most likely winner of the 2011 MAAC Championship, with projected MAAC Championship win odds of 31.8%. The second most likely team to top the MAAC bracket is Iona, with a 31.8% chance to win the MAAC Championship in 2011.
As Of: R1
Seed Team Quarter Semi Champ Win 1 Fairfield 100.00% 92.11% 61.79% 31.83% 2 Rider 100.00% 77.14% 36.08% 19.17% 3 Iona 100.00% 78.41% 50.73% 31.78% 4 St Peters 100.00% 57.27% 22.66% 8.52% 5 Loyola-MD 100.00% 42.73% 13.97% 4.34% 6 Canisius 100.00% 21.59% 7.57% 2.50% 7 Siena 81.21% 21.91% 5.57% 1.69% 8 Niagara 59.72% 5.72% 1.25% 0.14% 9 Manhattan 40.28% 2.17% 0.32% 0.02% 10 Marist 18.79% 0.95% 0.05% 0.00%
This site seems to have more confidence in the Gaels than does oldtimer. They have Iona and Fairfield as co-favorites whereas oldtimer has Fairfield at 8 - 5 and Iona as even money.

We have our best pathway to Monday in a long time! We've played 4 tough games against our two likely opponents (Siena and Rider). This is not an easy path to the finals by any means. Agree, it is the easiest since 2006. Siena will have the best player on the court - We are in big trouble if Rossiter gets Glove or ARod in foul trouble. Like the 2 previous games against them - Rider is a tough team to contain. Ringold, Robinson and Gadson are all excellent players....Steward is a solid player as well.

Based on your theory who's to say Iona will be playing Siena on Saturday. Manhattan did beat them once already!

I worry against any team if AROD or Glover is in foul trouble.
