Guy - it appears that Valpo is phasing out the message board site you posted and is moving to this new site as of yesterday: www.valpofanzone.com/forum/

Certainly a statement tourney for us. If we win it proves we were NIT caliber.

Marshall, the best RPI team in the tournament, just lost at home.
Let's go kick Valpo's ass.

Yes, we suspected all along that the Iona-Valpo winner would get a bye, and this confirms it.
Now let's get that W!

Northern Iowa, despite their record and RPI is a very good team. Allot of close losses to good teams. Probably the toughest competition left aside from Valpo.

Also interesting is that they re-seed the field after each round, based on the typical factors AND geography, in an effort to ease travel for everyone.
Look at who's left, the ONLY northeast team left is Buffalo! If Buffalo is still alive after the 2nd round (and we'd have a bye), I think it's very likely we'll see them. As to WHERE that game is, though, total mystery. Buffalo played on the road, not sure what they'll do for the 2nd round. If they're at home for the 2nd round, then they may make Iona host Buffalo in the quarters. If Buffalo's on the road in the 2nd round, Iona may be able to dodge a round of hosting (to save $) and play at Buffalo.
The other interesting dynamic--whether they get that far or not--is how it's determined who hosts the finals, which is on a campus site as well. I would think it's possible that Iona has told the CIT that they won't host until the finals. I can't imagine we'd pay to host TWO home games during this tourney, but logic at this point would suggest the quarters and then the finals if we're there. Hmm. Interesting, again, even if we're not in it. Curious to watch as that progresses.

Maybe we should consider setting up out own tourney. Seems like some easy cash to be made.

For example, I'd be shocked if Northern Iowa plays more than 1 road game.

Once again economics vs a championship. What is more important? $20.00 a tix x 2000 (less then a full house)= $40,000. How is this not a possibilty? A championship banner at Hynes seems to be worth the few dollars that we would be short. What about recruiting? It can't hurt. What about fund raising? Can't hurt that either. What about publicity? Seems like a cheap way to buy it. I don't know............ seems to make too much sense!
