It has gone final, Gaels win 85 - 77 but Valpo was tough and never quit. When we got up 17 I thought this was going to be a huge blowout.
We got a nice game from Trinity and Mike was very efficient with his double-double as well. Five guys in double figures shows nice balance.

Nice win. Trinity playe very well, Machado played poorly. Arod hurt his knee, my guess is he is done, he had a nice career. Maybe we'll get a home game, but my guess is not next game.

Bit of home cooking, IMO, as the refs appeared to do a nice job of extending the game. Quick to call fouls down the stretch. At one point we had an inbounds pass to Armand who dribbled about thirty feet before he got fouled. The clock never moved. ARod was plowed into when he got hurt, no call. All in all we got a good win on the road anyway.

In postgame interview with J Grasso, Vinny gave the impression that next game will also be on the road. Let's hope that Alejo can make it back. Not only does he deserve to get a shot at a tourney; but, with Kyle already done, we are starting to get thin. On the plus side, a lot of others are getting good opportunities and making the most of their chances.

Great job against a solid opponent... nice to have a post season win! Guess we won't know who we play until the second round completes Fri/Sat. Hawaii wouldn't be such a bad trip! Air Force wouldn't be good in that thin Colorado air. Buffalo would be more likely. Hope A-Rods leg isn't too serious... we need him out there.

Another top 100 win, and on the road. Overall this is a pretty good year. Just picked the wrong night to play poorly(last Monday).
Irony is if this was a regular season game our RPI would have shot up about 15 points and we would be in the NIT.

Agree. Sadly, we'd be in the NIT after this one. Maybe the NIT needs a play-in round too!
Why is everyone sounding like Alejo's done? He walked off on his own, with a so-so (not awful) limp. He's a senior. He'll play.
Iona's good enough to win this tournament with all games on the road, but I'd like to see the program rewarded along the way. Again, fine by me if it's the finals, but we still gotta win 2 more games to get to that point.

What's Smythe's injury, anyone know? Separated shoulder?

Off the CIT site:
SECOND ROUND (March 18-19)
FRIDAY Air Force (16-15) @ Santa Clara (20-14)
SATURDAY Jacksonville (20-11) @ SMU (18-14) Buffalo (19-13) @ Western Michigan (21-12) San Francisco (18-14) @ Hawaii (19-12)
QUARTERFINALS (March 21-22)
East Tennessee State (23-11) vs. TBD Northern Iowa (20-13) vs. TBD Ohio (19-15) vs. TBD Iona (23-11) vs. TBD
Three of those teams in the 2nd round hosting game for the 2nd time. I'll stick with my Buffalo guess should they win. Should they lose, I'd guess Jacksonville or West Mich.

Wow! Article mentions there were only 1000 fans in attendance. Pretty bad!

Ditto on all your posts and Trinity Fields for playing lights out! Maybe he can be a significant factor next year. Good luck also to St. Peters playing Purdue tomorrow. Now it is time to plan my day....bottoms up fellas! Erin go bragh!!!

Very proud of our team. They fought the temptation to play down to this tournament, but they came out with intentsity and purpose. I think they proved they belonged in the NIT, and there should be a carry over next year. Coaches are also to be aplauded for getting the team prepared and ready to play. Keep it up guys, we would love to see a championship game at Hynes!

Great game by fields. Shame the kid was used so sparingly as he might have helped in some of the losses when we stayed with cold shooters for far too long in the games.
One thing I like about Willy. When starter didn't get it done he didnt hesitate to pull them and insert some bench guys with something to prove.
The Authority.
