One thing to keep in mind with the selections is they are going to give the Colonial one of the big games no matter what there RPI is. The Colonial has earned that the past few years, that is why Drexel could be coming to play us and possibly VCU gets Wichita state or long Beach state instead of them coming to us. I would place my money on Drexel as our opponent. I think the travel component will play heavily into the reasoning.

Right now, assuming we beat St. Peter's, I'm gonna say we get Northern Iowa. Unless it was a fabulous match-up the country was dying to see, I don't see them making a west coast team come all the way across the country.

Travel has nothing to do with the TV games, CJB.
Sticking with LBSU.

Who knows what they will do, I doubt RPI is the main factor in choice. Iona is in a group with about 6 teams that have nearly identical RPI's. I think with Machado Iona may get preference over some others but I wouldn't be surprised by nearly any of the matchups that have been mentioned.

Hope it is on ESPN or ESPN2.
Speaking of ESPN, took a look at ESPN3 today and what a joke, Iona insider looks as good. Can't believe the Maac tourney is only on this(except for championship), pretty much have go to Springfield. Maybe Maac was hoping this would help attendance. Overall not being on MSG doesn't help NY city metro area publicity for the Maac.

Damn, MASN carried the MAAC tourney games down here in the D.C. area the past couple of seasons. That's done?

Damn, MASN carried the MAAC tourney games down here in the D.C. area the past couple of seasons. That's done? I believe it is exclusively on ESPN3 (computer/phone/tablet/xbox only), which in my opinion is bad for the Maac. Its 5 years ahead of its time, too soon. Same with Iona not being on the radio, technology is not quite good enough yet to have eliminated radio, but I realize radio was expensive.

I agree with that opinion. Not being on TV makes us look bush.

Given unlikelihood of Gaels (St Mary's)-Gaels match up. I would prefer Wichita St. or Long Beach St over N. Iowa purely based on name recognition.
Wichita St fans who saw us earlier in PR are not pleased about possibiity of playing us.

I will double check, but I believe most of the games that are on ESPN3 are also on ESPN gameplan, so if you purchase the Gameplan package you should get MAAC tourney games. Upside is that we will finally get our championship in HD this year.

Akron at Iona Friday 7 PM game on ESPN2; per a little birdie. Really not surprised at this. As I mentioned in Cluess thread, he has too much to worry about as coach. E.G. on Wichita St board, they quoted Cluess as folllows: Also, the Coach at Iona would "...prefer not to get Saint Mary’s, Nevada, or Long Beach State because of the travel costs and time required in the return game. The Coach at Iona also said he would prefer more of a regional game like Ohio or Cleveland State." Why the hell is our coach worried about budget. I mentioned this before about how the $$ affects our coach's thinking. (I have actually spoken with Tim about this--not in the BB context, but in the overall discussion about the program's future.) That is the administration's job--not his.

I'm hoping it's the Shockers. If not LBS or NI. I would think that a return game to the West Coast, with a tie in game, would be a recruiting plus.
