What I want to see is that if certain players aren't playing with intensity, play someone else, don't just stick with the same 5 guys. Momo wasn't himself and Dezouvre logged more minutes than usual and got tired. Play Jermel and Rashad in those situations, at least for a few minutes. If jenkins & momo flipped minutes in the second half we win by 8.

Totally out-hustled in the second half. Gaels need to learn how to dive for lose balls again. I thought the two blocks on Glove were the turning points - also thought the second block was a blatent foul. For whatever reasons, it appears a few guys on this team (not named Scott, Glove and Kyle) require some attitude adjustments.
Masiello and Gonzo hugging one another after that dreadful finish made me want to vomit.

we lost because of 1 guy, classless cluess who walked off the court without shaking hands. he continually tries to slow down games with the lead, we will never win a half court game, what was up with the rotation? he talked about rebounding, we were only outrebounded by 2 which is not horrible. And even though the overated momo hit the shot who thought putting the ball in his hands over arguably the best poiny in the counrty was a good idea.

Seem to remember the Manhattan team (at Masiello's direction) running off the court with no handshakes before the final basket was ruled good. Act like an ass; get treated like one!

Adj1970, welcome to the board.
However, this is not the Siena board, we're not slaughtering our coach here, particularly when he's won 25 games his first season and has the team 13-4 this year. Not saying he's not open to critique, but please do it with respect.

In addition to the blocks on glover, also putting Kidiani Brutus on scott was a turning point as well. We will right the ship again, and move foward. We need the whole roster to step up now and act as a team.

From ESPN:
How did Iona let Manhattan overcome a 17-point deficit with 7:58 left in the game on Thursday night?
By playing stunningly stunningly poor defense when it mattered most. The Jaspers scored 27 points before the final buzzer sounded, finishing with 53 points in the second half.
John Rothstein of CBSSports.com notes this morning, however, that this could end up being good for Iona in the long run. "Iona needed a loss like they had last night against Manhattan. Gaels have been humbled -- in mid January, that's not a bad thing."

Don't get me wrong -I love this team, but I thought the dunking exhibition that wowed the crowd during warm ups made me feel they weren't taking Manhattan as seriously as they should have.

First off, welcome to the board. But I must poke a hole in this theory, as Iona dominated the first half en route to a 17-point lead--doesn't sound like they took them lightly. What they DID do is go into cruise control at the 8 minute mark when they should be doing it at the 2 minute mark.

OK, I'm over last night. The last 8 minutes of that game should be used as a learning tool -- we let a win slip away. But that is not something that every member of the team does not know already.
I am concerned about the second halves of both the Marist and Manhattan games, but it is pretty clear that the Iona Gaels, from TC right on down the line are too. I watched the post game interviews today, TC took responsibility for the loss last night and said that we have a lot of work to do. He called the loss disgraceful.
The most telling part of the interviews that I watched was when Scott was asked what Coach said in the locker room and he responded that Coach was upset, there were things he couldn't say in the interview; and then said that TC said, "tomorrow we're his". I hope they all survived today.
There was a reference in one post in this thread about TC being classless. That is so far from fact that it's laughable. While I have only met him once (at the Loyola game in Baltimore last season) the interviews I have seen and the stories that I have read about him are nothing but positive. So he missed a post game reception, BFD. Yesterday was a bad day for me too. I took a beating in court and I was more than angry and upset. I wasn't a lot of fun to be around in the office later that day and pretty much stayed to myself. I can understand that TC didn't feel too much like socializing after the game.
While I think it is every fan's right to question how a coach acts/reacts to game situations, name calling or attacking TC's integrity is inappropriate. I think that Iona showed good judgment in giving TC a chance and TC has more than shown that Iona's decision was a good one. I would say that the vast majority of people in this board and in the Iona community have a high regard for TC and hope that Iona steps up and does what it needs to do to keep him.
So we screwed the pooch yesterday. Time to put it behind us. We're still in first place in the MAAC and we're 13-4 overall. Let's start a win streak against the Hounds and use each game thereafter to gear up for 3 days in March and a trip to The Dance.
Go Gaels!!!
