Things wil get better. I have us at .500 for the OOC so I am not shocked or upset. We let the game get away from us today but i would rather it happen now instead of during the MAAC tournament.

I agree 86.
Iona is built to run for 40 minutes and this team is no different than recent Iona teams. We clearly struggle in a half court set and this was exposed in the second half today. Our defense struggles in a half court game because it appears our players struggle to adjust to screens and player switches.
As far as Poole, I feel he will be a plus for this team. While he missed a few bunnies today, he also made two straight impressive shots and recorded a couple key boards. Poole, along with AJ and Tre will be our 8/10 point, 4/5 rebounds kind of players.
Remember, this team lacks a Machado/Momo type 20+ point guy from the backcourt. We will need contributions by committee from the entire line-up. Think 9 role players each contributing what is expected of them.
As far as the point guard situation, I feel having 3 guys competing (Sledge, Gomez, Britton) will actually benefit our team in the long haul. Each guy will realize that they have to produce or expect an early hook. I hope TC adheres to this philosophy.
I agree with Bill that it's goo early to leap off the ledge. The frustrating thing for a Gael fan is that we always seem to lose the excruciating tight winnable type games.

I thought the team looked gassed in the final minutes explaining missed FTs, bad fouls, defense, etc. It's a tough style of play for the first game of the season. GO GAELS!

All too familiar, but add me to the "one game does not a season make" category.

Watching Iona in the first half, I felt that there was no team in the country that could hold Iona to 25 points in a half.
SLG is wrong again! I forgot about the only team that could do it - Iona. This one is for you Chels - 10 assists in the first half and 44 points, 2 assists in the second half and 25 points.
For those who think we don't adjust, we did yesterday. We came out in the second half; missed a few shots, and had a few turnovers. We immediately lost trust in our team-mates, and went one-on-one. Everyone did it - passed up wide open team-mates to run into the brick wall Cleveland State put up. There's no more MoMo; no more Scott. Our one-on-one response was a kiss of death. And yes, our D was not very good.
Interesting question going forward. Who is going to QB this team with the game on the line? Got to have the handle, got to be able to find open team-mates, and got to, got to - I say, hit FT's.
When our guys believe that their team-mates are as talented as all of here know they are; they will be dynamite. On that note, he is only a freshman and only had 2 minutes; but that was a great assist by Rydan Hines to Isiah W when he realized that he was trapped.
Really like those uniforms - maroon and gold. Looking good!

Yes as the old adage goes games are won and lost in the first and last 4 minutes of each half. That's when you need a good floor general. Kiss if death yesterday letting them score the first 11 pts of the second half. Missed at least one bunny and an open three. Can't press if we don't score and they are right back in it at home believing they can win. At the same time we are reeling. Same thing happen against Ohio State, although that's harder to control. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm most comfortable when we're down five or six at half.

Agree also SLG that unless you trust and rely on each other, you're not gonna win much. I thought Sean did a really good job of not trying to do too much and be something that he's not yesterday.

On a separate note... unless there's some justifiable cause, how about ditching the warm-up look?
We're 0 for Ohio in them, it's time to turn the page.

The announcers said that the Iona coaches were going to wear them most of the season for cancer awareness

My question: Who, in this game, will be Iona's leading........ A. Scorer? B. Rebounder? C. 'Assister'? D. Stealer? A. English, B. Laurey (an easy answer, if he stays out of foul trouble) C. Williams D. Poole I say A. Laury, B. Laury, C. Poole, D. English... BTW. I was 3/4 Laury, Laury, Bowman, English
