Updated roster for '14-15: C - Robinson (So) F - Laury (Sr) F - Williams (Jr) F - Hines (So) F - Scott (Fr) F - Young (Jr) G - Amayo (So) G - English (Jr) G - Sledge (Sr) G - Ellis (So) G - Casimir (Fr) Starting Five: Sledge (??) English Amayo Williams Laury Bench Rotation: Casimir Ellis Young Hines Scott Robinson Most of the roster discussions are about 3 areas that need improvement (in no particular order): Point Guard Rebounding/Defense Depth With Sledge, Casimir and AJ when needed we may be able to cover the point guard position. I think that we are in the best situation here of the 3 areas. We must get help for DL3. As IC59 point out, "we NEED a rebounder". I agree that Hines and/or Robinson may not be that guy next year. Need a Taj as he was the second half of his senior season. A 6'8 bull would do the trick. That would also help with depth and defense. We need a "Help Wanted Ad" for a 6'8 rebounder with experience to help get a strong offensive minded team into the NCAA Tourney.

While it was nice to sign Casimir, we desperately need help with rebounding.

Updated roster and depth chart if the season started today. BTW, would not be shocked if Casimir starts at PG when all is said and done, but for now let's go with Sledge:
Starting Five: Sledge English Amayo Williams Laury
Bench: Young (SF) Hines (PF) Robinson (C) Casimir (PG) Scott (SF) Ellis (SG)

Obviously too early to predict lineup without knowing the final 2 roster spots, but I have a feeling a frontcourt starter is not even on the team yet and will be a JUCO recruit. As the roster stands now I think TC is sold on English as the PG. Would not shock me if Hines works his way into the starting lineup.

In a perfect world I think we would move Amayo to PG, put AJ at SG, and then have a frontcourt of IW, DL3 and a stud JUCO player.

I do believe TC is going to recruit a JUCO who will probably start at PF/C. I am sold on Hines as a player and think he will get plenty of PT this year and contribute.

The thing to remember--and this is fact--is that Cluess doesn't play guys by position, he plays the best five guys. English played PG because neither of our pure PGs were good enough. I am not sure if Sledge will crack the lineup because of this--depends on the ability of Casimir as well as whether we land an impact transfer.

I think a lineup of Amayo, English, Williams, DL3 and a solid JUCO player (not asking for a Glover type, but someone who is a solid MAAC level starter) would rival any lineup we've had over the past few decades. The next 2 signings for us are huge. The difference between having a lineup like the one above with Sledge, Hines, Robinson, etc. coming off the bench and having the current lineup where one of them would be forced to start, is huge. Can't be overlooked.

While I've only seen him play in a pickup game, I think that Shack Scott can contribute as PF. Especially in the TC system. Don't sleep on him.

With hopefully help underway along with the development of Robinson and Hines this height problem will be somewhat lessoned and allow for reasonable matchups and improved defense...A major difference in what I think our team will look like depends on the play of Casimir...If he hopefully fills the point guard position as projected, it will open up unlimited possibilities and a more traditional lineup.....If he disappoints we will be a 11 man team with familiar problems........ Much credit should be given to Cluess and staff for dealing with this major problem, and making Iona into tough out....

I am not responsible, so don't blame me..............
I had for some reason been receiving advertisement after advertisement on my computer to a point when it became almost useless...My daughter said I had been infested by a virus called ''Malware'', and she would have to take it home to clean it up, which would take a few days....In doing so, she posted the picture which will now appear with each posting...
As far as I can make out, it was taken in 1944 on either Guam or Saipan when I was the ripe age of 18........which might explain why I am so annoyed at the use of the word ''Kid'' so freely.....
My wife says that I am a grouchy old man when my computer is down......
