Massielo's defense now is ''I thought I graduated from Kentucky''.....To even offer such a defenses shows utter arrogance and disrespect for the intelligence of others...

In his defense, he did go to Kentucky. It's quite possible with that educational background he did not know whether he graduated or not.

Totally biased story in Daily Dose of Hoops
dalydoseofhoops.blogspot.com/2014/03/supporting-masiello-is-best-decision.html
When you look at Steve Masiello, take everything into concern, not just his 60-39 record in three seasons at Manhattan, a school that had won only six games the year before he arrived in Riverdale, returning to a program he had assisted Bobby Gonzalez in competition building up to be the closest to Gonzaga among East Coast mid-majors and injecting a combination of youth, fresh air, and unbridled intensity into a team that desperately needed a jolt to erase five years of mediocrity after Barry Rohrssen could not maintain the success Gonzalez built before leaving for Seton Hall.
Ridiculous

Yes it is totally biased. And, I believe other than Eddie Jordan, everyone else he mentioned got their second chance years after their LYING. [/b]

The deal killer for me is that he asked the Manhattan kids - at least some of them - to bolt with him to South Florida while apparently he was still employed by the Jaspers. I read this on one of the boards so who knows if it's accurate. But If it is true and I were Manhattan he would be gone just for that. That would be total disrespect to the school and the program. Also based on past NCAA history re his diploma issue if the Jaspers do not fire him for just cause I will lose respect for them as an academic institution. Just as my respect for USF as an academic institution has grown. Mass will land on his feet with Pitino as his Godfather and get his second chance. Manhattan should not give him that chance if the above is true.

Even though it is hard to argue that Bruce had much penance with his gig at ESPN, he did have to go through the process of re-establishing his professional credentials. As an institution with strong religious affiliation, Manhattan has a tough decision on its hands.

This situation is a joke. I do know when I got my degree we had this ceremony and in the mail I got my diploma. I never had to sit down and go over my records to make sure I got my degree. It's B.S. that this guy is trying to play this card. You know when you get it and you know when you don't. He never got it and he's playing stupid which will hurt him in the long run instead of flat out saying he never got it. I was wishing the best for him at USF but this whole debacle now has made me once again hate him.

Manhattan College will likely let Masiello go after they receive official status on his degree and cite their requirement of degree for the position when he was hired. The College will almost certainly have to take hard line to maintain credibility. If so it will be interesting if they elevate Associate Head Coach or start anew.

Speaking for myself, I hope that Manhattan finds a way to keep him.
