gordan, you do know that there is about $5M involved? I understand that, my point though is that it's a joke of an excuse. I care about iona basketball period but he's making himself look like a fool with this new excuse. I hope Manhattan dumps him and finds another young coach to continue to build on what they have. I like healthy and clean rivalry's between us two with no strings attached.

Massielo's defense now is ''I thought I graduated from Kentucky''.....To even offer such a defenses shows utter arrogance and disrespect for the intelligence of others... With no framed degree to put on the wall would tell any lay person that you have no degree. Comeon SM, don't play us...own up to it and move on, wherever it may be.

Totally biased story in Daily Dose of Hoops
dalydoseofhoops.blogspot.com/2014/03/supporting-masiello-is-best-decision.html
When you look at Steve Masiello, take everything into concern, not just his 60-39 record in three seasons at Manhattan, a school that had won only six games the year before he arrived in Riverdale, returning to a program he had assisted Bobby Gonzalez in competition building up to be the closest to Gonzaga among East Coast mid-majors and injecting a combination of youth, fresh air, and unbridled intensity into a team that desperately needed a jolt to erase five years of mediocrity after Barry Rohrssen could not maintain the success Gonzalez built before leaving for Seton Hall.
Ridiculous
Man that's one heck of a run-on sentence. Had to read it 3 times. Still not sure I understand it.

Speaking for myself, I hope that Manhattan finds a way to keep him. Me too, jobs that have consequences in people lives should be vetted and held to a standard. I want my doctor to have all the proper credentials, and I want my electrician to be licensed. I want my basketball coach to be a motivator, run a clean program, graduate kids and understand x's and o' ; don't know if you need a college degree for those credentials?

Don't you think you need it if it was spelled out as a requirement for the job? It was. Is it ok to lie about a job requirement and then have no consequence or keep the job under any conditions. Could you trust the employee at the same job after that breach? I couldn't. I am all for second chances but this would be a "let me cover my eyes and ears" so I didn't see or hear anything.

I can't argue your points, they're all accurate; just saying the guys been beaten up pretty good already, redemption and 2nd chances are also part of life. I can fully understand Manhattan letting him go, but I certainly would accept them giving him another chance.

As much as I want to believe in compassion I have to think if he gets another chance it's because they feel they have a good basketball coach locked up for the next few years. Problem is what kind of credibility will he have with his players. Believe me I don't wish Manhattan ill. There are several other schools I'd like to see this happen to.

Just throwing this out there with all of the discussion about kids not wanting to play for a coach they feel does not have any credibility. If Manhattan keeps Masiello is there any chance any of the current players can petition the NCAA for the hardship relief that the Rutgers players were granted since they would not want to play for a coach who they can make the argument is not qualified to be their coach, since a degree was required for Manhattan job? the Rutgers players were granted the waivers even though the problem coach was fired. In this case the "problem" coach is still their coach.

Unless they can prove physical or mental abuse they are stuck there, Their recruits will be released from their LOI's though if they request.

Looks like that Oliver Antigua is going to be named HC at USF. He's an assistant at Kentucky, I believe.

Orlando is getting hired by USF and Oliver is an assistant with our friend at Seton Hall. Confusing.

Is it possible that Oliver and Orlando switched resumes? (Smiley Face)
