From the OSU head coach:
“Iona and Valparaiso are two perennial NCAA Tournament teams, and we have other quality home games with Loyola Marymount, Nevada and Quinnipiac,” Tinkle said.
Perennial!!!!!!!

Since Coach Cluess has taken over , in the past 5 years, we have played 12 A-10 games. Coach Cluess must like the challenge of playing bigger conference games. Not implying that we don't want to play A-10 teams. My sense is TC will play A-10 if it makes RPI or $$$ sense. The thought is do they want to play us anymore. Reading both the Valpo and Akron boards it seems that we are all in the same boat. Unable to schedule up games. Especially at home.

Fordham doesn't count right now. Maybe in a few years. They have been in the A-10 but they have not been an A-10 team during their league tenure. They should be improved this year. More cupcake Ws but who knows if it all will translate into a much improved RPI for them.

Looks like the MTE everyone is talking about is called the Hardwood Showcase. 4 games at OSU involving Iona, Valpo, Northwest Christian (exhibition) and Tulsa. Then games at Valpo would be Iona, Tulsa and probably another team. Tinkle’s second season at Oregon State begins on Saturday, Nov. 14 when the Beavers host Northwest Christian, out of Eugene, Ore., as part of the Hardwood Showcase. The inaugural event also includes home games against Iona (Tuesday, Nov. 17) and Valparaiso (Tuesday, Nov. 24).www.osubeavers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30800&ATCLID=210332595All excellent mid majors with a major lookin to get relevant again. Great job by Cluess if this happens. Pencil in that Valpo game giving us hopefully 1 more home game to schedule.

Oregon ST also has games against Valpo and Quinny Yeah OSU will be a nice test. Valpo believe will be season opener. So here's what is confirmed so far: @ Tulsa @ Oregon State vs Akron vs UCSB Delaware (HAC) Drexel (HAC) Here's what is likely: @ Valpo Here's what is still TBD: One more home game (likely against cupcake opponent) Local exempt tourney road game to replace UCF (likely against quality mid/high level Northeast team) That should wrap it up. Updated: Confirmed: @ Valpo (11/15) @ Oregon State (11/17) Delaware (11/20) @ Tulsa (12/8) vs UCSB (12/22) vs Akron (12/23) Drexel (12/28) Likely: Texas So (12/16) @ URI (12/19)

Great job by the staff getting this schedule --4 NCAA teams (5 if you include Manhattan--ugh). --likely 2 teams in top 50
Given the difficulties getting teams to play us, we still have an impressive mid-major schedule.
I have had the opportunity to speak with 2 Major Conference D1 coaches recently (Big 10 & ACC). Neither wanted any part of us.

Also would imagine that the 12/10 to 12/13 dates will be reserved for MAAC early weekend.

Out of nowhere Rhode Island, likely the toughest game on the schedule.

Nice work out of 05. At least the Iona athletic office can't blame me.

Road games against Valpo, Tulsa, Oregon State and URI. Need to find a way to win one of these.
Neutral site games against UCSB and Akron. Could win both, need to win one.
Home games against Delaware, Drexel and Texas So. Should sweep these.
If we do the above and run through the MAAC at 17-3 or so, we would be 23-6 heading into Albany. Not at-large worthy by any means, but in the conversation for a 12 seed.
If we can somehow split the road OOC games and destroy the MAAC with only a loss or two, we will definitely be in the mix for at-large.
This team will be very good. Probably the best in the Cluess era.
