Will Robinson ever play a game for us? What a waste of 84 inches not to mention a seat on the bench Danger, Will Robinson! Almost got "Lost in Space" Greg.

It's games like today that you appreciate the effort from players like Dublin, Ibn, and Hines. Solid contributions from these players, especially with AJ and Amayo in foul trouble, were important factors in securing the victory.
Props to a great team effort. Difficult to play without AJ for 11 minutes and I'm pleased that our bench players were able to step up when needed.

Good post. Who will be the top 5 teams? Iona, Monmouth, St. Peter's, Siena, Manhattan? Think that's pretty spot on. Could see QU or Canisius sneaking in if Manhattan doesn't get their act together. Rider.

Pastos' post game comments about the officiating were interesting. Overall I don't see what he has to complain about. After his T Siena was able to mug Iona almost at will on D, with only about half of the possible fouls called.

Good win in a tough building. Didn't play nearly our best and beat them by double digits while Siena played hard and thought as well as I've seen them this year. They just don't match up well against us. I will not be afraid of facing them in March even in the comforts of their homecourt.

Some of you guys need to check your negativity at the door. The program is in great hands and is in the best shape it has been in years. I really do not care about SHU or SJU as neither has an impact on how we do in the MAAC.

+10
We beat a "pre-season highly regarded" league opponent in a tough environment with our leading scorer and #1 sub missing for more than a combined 25 minutes in the second half--as well as a bunch in the first half.
Our "phantom" bench has increased its contribution incrementally, and we are now 8 deep. (Maybe 9 because I thought Bebis did a good job at the top of the zone again.) If we had made a few more foul shots in the first half, this would have been even more of a blowout.
Valvano always said--they're going to make a run against you. Today they did, took the lead, and we smashed them right back with 2 of our top 6 on the bench.
Our newbies got some experience at the TUC--preparing them for March. Bring on Q and the next 2 into Hynes.

Iona86 thank you. Not sure what the fascination with other programs and all the negatives are about. Iona has a very good team being lead by a very capable Coach and staff. Enjoy the ride or would you rather be Marist.

He just keeps on giving: “They had kids that made shots on us,” said Siena coach Jimmy Patsos. “We got some momentum there for awhile but we slipped back into bad habits. I don’t know if that is being tired or not.”
The Saints played at Fairfield on Friday night (winning 68-67) and then had to turn around and play this game. Iona was playing its first game since Dec. 30, so fatigue was not a factor with them.
Guess we can say the same thing about playing Q on Tuesday. This guy still hasn't figured out that it happens every MAAC game day with 11 teams in the league--Jeez!

Patsos' 'comments will likely lead to some reprimand by MAAC. Too bad he opened his mouth as it hurts program. His players deserve better.

It seems to me that Patsos is an 'old school' type of coach. He looks to get an early technical, with the expectation that his team will then get a lot of favorable calls. And according to the radio guys JP 'talked' the refs into making the back to back foul calls against AJ and Kelvin. However, the radio guys both seemed to agree that Iona got the benefit of a couple of questionable calls. Having not seen the game I have no idea of how well/poorly the refs were, yesterday. When I watched the beginning of the Fordham-VCU game I was disappointed to see Ed Corbett and Brian O'Connell doing that game, as I would have been happy with either for our game. Also, Gary Stanley said that Tim Cleuss has never received a technical as the Iona coach. Have to admit that I was surprised to hear that.

Good win for the Gaels in a very hostile setting. We kept our composure when we lost AJ and Siena made its run. Glad for the win but given the way Siena went after AJ I'm really glad he didn't get hurt. I have a feeling that a number of teams in this league may go after him figuring they can get him out of the game. I'm sure Manhattan will try it. That style is right out of Massiello's play book.
