-1002, nothing good about this and amazingly enough "our depth" is already down to a likely 7 man rotation.

Forget the spin, this is TERRIBLE news. Did we lose both periods? Was it close?

-1002, nothing good about this and amazingly enough "our depth" is already down to a likely 7 man rotation. That's minus 2,004. That is a lot of minus. We all feel that this team will be very good. We don't know how the new guys will do or how they will fit in. We don't know who will be injured and when. Just like every team before a season starts. I like to speculate like everyone else, but estimating guys impact based on practice and scrimmages is ridiculous.

[Good. Need to refocus now and stop reading press clippings. [/quote] GUY Excellent advise.....There has been much to much unrealistic optimistic from our fans...We are a team with aprox. 50% new additions, each with with probably a different schooling and approach to basketball...There is little doubt in my mind that Princeton's deliberate regimented style of basketball created some confusion and was a much needed learning factor that will serve us well in the future.... It will take some time to adjust, and we will meet with more of these disappointment until we jell into the team we expect to be... For what its worth...Hang tough the final results will lead to a very rewarding season....

...estimating guys impact based on practice and scrimmages is ridiculous. Amen, chelseadal.
For some reason, no matter how strong or weak either team has been, Princeton has always had our number.
Not that it should matter year to year, but I don't think I can recall ever beating them.
Just checked and see they were voted to finish third in the Ivy preseason poll.
Hopefully, the scrimmage provided both coaches and players valuable insight what to focus on.

[Good. Need to refocus now and stop reading press clippings. GUY I have used this analogy before, but it seems the appropriate time for a thoughtful moment for in my mind a lesson in self gratification......... A young lad of aprox. 17 years of age wakes up on Christmas morning expecting to see a high priced car in the driveway as his Xmass gift...He runs to the window and he rages with disappointment as he sees a lower priced vehicle.... With 5 years behind us of high quality basketball we have in some manner become spoiled fans, and find it hard to deal with a loss even it is only a scrimmage type contest... Come down to earth...There are just as many losses as wins...I have in recent years had my share of victories and am thankful that I enjoy them more because of the agonies of defeats....

Can't believe we're getting nuts over a scrimmage. I put very little impact on scrimmage games since these are little more than glorified practices. Gives the coaches a chance to see their players against competition other than their teammates and helps working on plays and getting the players used to each other. Doubt if players or coaches go full tilt in scrimmages. Save your energy for the season.

Calling the spin doctors. Please report to the Iona Message Board. Terrible news would be like if someone died during the scrimmage. Do we know who played in the scrimmage. Do we know what Cluess was working on, trying to accomplish? Although I don't know Princeton, I'm guessing we are more athletic than they are. I'm also guessing that about Valpo. I'm guessing Princeton is a grind it out, half-court team. This might have prepared us really well for Valpo. I don't know any of the specifics of the scrimmage, so I'm not gonna panic before the season even starts.

I guess I shouldn't have said terrible news and just said it was bad news. For that I stand corrected.

All I was trying to say is I don't think there is anything good that comes out of a loss. I would rather the team came in to game one confidant that they could win any game and not question themselves, I don't think a loss is better for them. I do think there are way too many unknowns about what happened in the game to get worked up about the loss. I would imagine playing the second team likely with a walk on or two didn't help and I'm disappointed again we are looking at potentially a short rotation.

Of course injuries are important.
