Super, I was making a comment about the most recent additions (newcomers). I did not mention Bessick as he has a year under his belt with the program and Coach Cluess will have a pretty understanding of how to use him and what to expect. At this point Washington and Rountree are more unknown quantities.

I wasn't overly surprised by this. Check out my posts on the New York College hoops thread. I couldn't understand the optimism on the three STJ boards. I didn't think it would be quite this bad, though. I knew they'd lose, but not that badly. That's because they didn't have Lovett. This guy is really good. He's like a Scott and a Momo rolled into one, except he might be an even better passer then Scott. He's the best ballhandler in STJ history, and the best passer since Mullin himself. I mean he's REALLY good!! And they didn't have him tonight. Other then him, though, we have no talent. Lavin left us with no players. None! Nobody knew Lav made a deal with Rysheed not to go to class in the Spring. No players. They had to scramble in April and May just to get a roster of players for this year. It doesn't have anything to do with CM's coaching ability. It's going to be a long and painful year for us STJ fans. Didn't mean to make your night Joe bird. LOL. Just kidding. Have fun. I predicted this last Fall. reksonn--Lovett eligibility in question? www.nydailynews.com/sports/college/chris-mullin-thinks-st-john-players-overwhelmed-article-1.2424700Yes. He went to three high schools in four years, and this has generated problems with transcript evaluation. It's not a Pelle situation where Lavin gave up on him. They feel it will be resolved, but evidently they want to talk to his teachers, among other people. I've never heard of this before, but this is what I am hearing now. As a teacher, I'd be pretty annoyed, even though he probably signed a waiver. I just wonder what is going on. Do they think that someone changed the grades? It seems very strange, almost creepy. Are they being accused of any shenanigans. What are they even asking for. Test booklets? Never heard of anything like this. St. John's needs him though. Badly.

This should probably be on Bill's thread, "New York College Hoops Talk", though. My concern is that the thread police will arrive shortly. Getting a little off topic.

05, speaking only for myself you have it backwards... it comes down to them both (SJU & FU) unwilling to play us. No, I don't have a hint of an inferiority complex - they sir, have a superiority complex. I just don't understand the interest in bringing them up. Seems like no matter how good we are, we always find a way to bring up SJU hoops as if it has any relevance to us. They won't play us, they are not as good as us, they are completely irrelevant this season. We have a lot of exciting stuff going on at Iona. Would rather just focus on our house until the Johnnies find a way onto our OOC schedule. +1001 Do we have to go through another season of rekkson bellyaching about that squall in Queens? While I am at it, Jeff's last season was 2 -28 - not 2 - 29! To paraphrase another guy who hung out in Queens - you can look it up.

It was said in earlier posts let's not worry SJU or other schools like that. Iona will be relevant in both NY media and National media. The 1st game is 10 days away let's take care of business. If Iona wins both at Valpo and Oregon State people will take notice and let's also not forget that there is a NBA prospect on this roster.

Good. Need to refocus now and stop reading press clippings.
