I'll offer a different take on this one.
Past couple years, pattern has been the same--destroy weak teams, struggle against good ones. But tonight's game, because of the injuries, kind of has a different feel for me, and as such a greater interest level. We are now without 3 of our top 6 players and are not appearing like we would be capable of challenging a team of URI's talent tonight. But this is precisely what I want to see at this point. Our backs are against the wall--so how do we respond? How do the coaches respond? Do we mail it in because we've already blown the OOC and this game is virtually meaningless? Or do we fight? This is very interesting to me, and because it would be understandable to get crushed given our injuries I am not worried about losing per se. For the time being, Iona is "ordinary" again--some of us even said that the other night. I liked the way we woke up after blowing the lead and putting them away--it showed some growth. Now, tonight, a 10-point loss would be a tremendous accomplishment, one that bodes well as we work closer to March.
Many, including some in Iona's athletic office, feel I'm too negative. I disagree, but let's put that aside for now. I'm confident going into tonight, because tonight isn't about RPI or at large hopes or media attention. It's about growth. And I LOVE this opportunity and will be at the Ryan Center rooting hard tonight, with nothing to be negative about.

i agree with the logic of what you are saying, but I saw grit and fight on Wed night in New Ro, and it took that to put away one of the worst teams in div1 basketball on our home court. I don't think that fight and determination is enough to overcome Rhode Island on their home court. I would not let AJ play and re-injure himself in any way. The way I look at it is, we hopefully will have a new, rested and uninjured team come March. Starting five tonight? ibn, Wash, IW, Rountree, jahaad?

When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made! All the world wondered. Honour the charge they made, Honour the Light Brigade, Noble six hundred.

And I didn't say I think we are gonna win. I would be thrilled if we put up a hell of a fight.

How about Much, who has started all year, instead of Proctor?

Doing a decent job. Rhode has fantastic defensive pressure.

URI is a great defensive team and we are without one of the top 50 players in the country. I am absolutely thrilled with our effort tonight, particularly on defense.

Halftime show mike ice calling uri "we". He may be a professor there but please try to avoid the we's and Us, When you are an ex Gael? Hamilton must be annoyed at that, I know he is big time pro alumni.

Three fouls on IW in about a minute. That was a killer. Fourth was unlucky as he was making a hustle play going for a loose ball.
