Best backcourt to ever play at Iona? I dont think we ever see a PG like Scott again at Iona, and Momo, goddamn is he talented. love when he takes it to the hoop and stops for the pullup J.

It's hard to compare. Grimes / Burtt was amazing also. Grimes did not have as many assists because he had guys who made their own plays. MoMo is great but he is not as good all around as Burtt.
This Iona team is deeper at the guards, but starting five I would still give the slight nod to Burtt's team. Grimes, Burtt, Hargraves, Springer and Truesdale... are a tough starting 5.

Please Machado and Grimes are even and Momo couldn't shine Burtt's shoes!

Grimes made the NCAA's twice, Machado can't say that. Grimes won 20 games all 4 years. He was a great college point guard. Even if Machado is better, Burtt is so much better than Momo the comparison is a joke!

Trust us... it is a toss up. Grimes was better than half the PG's in the NBA but nobody was looking to draft a 5'8" PG from a mid major.
Rory was better defensively... never got rattled breaking the press and could score as well as Scott. He could pass and penetrate as well as anyone I ever saw play. Grimes also has two NIT appearances and 2 NCAA's to go with his stats.
Scott is taller and stronger.... that is really the only advantages he had over Grimes. That is also something scouts look for.

Comparing Burtt and MoMo is just silly. I love MoMo... but Burtt Senior he is not. If you start comparing Taj to Springer I am going to send you to Bellevue.

Burtt shared the haggerty award with Mullin, and do you realize how revered Mullin was in this town, and Burtt still should have won it alone. A missed othell wilson prayer and Burtt may have also been elite 8. Sure as hell it wasn't his fault Iona didn't advance, he was unstoppable in his only NCAA game. If kennedy doesn't go 4 corners he would have scored 35 and advanced over eventual final four Virginia. I've seen them both and Burtt is a lot better and he didn't play with the second best player in college basketball.

Machado is the best PG in the nation Possibly.... this year. I am not taking anything away from Scott. He is having a great year and has had a great career. If I had to have Scott or Rory running my offense with the game on the line... at this point I would give the edge to Grimes.

Same thing if you had Grimes today.... Like I said he was better than most NBA PG's. Ask any of the old timers... they will tell you it is a toss up.
See how scott took over at the end of the game... it is a good sign but we never worried about that with Grimes.
