Do you realize what a dick Pitino was to everyone in our athletic office? Time heals all wounds, but it's only a been a minute. Actually, I don't. Was any specifics ever shared? And does the average fan who shows up or sees Iona posting on its Social Media accounts known anything about it? Iona didn't even make a tribute video back in March either after winning. Way before any players left. Majority of people would have clapped or liked a post if Iona did any kind of tribute to last year's team. If Iona Athletic office doesnt want to, kind of makes them seem a bit better, when they did a great job moving the program forward after RP left. you do realize we waived the fee if he left early, to help him facilitate leaving |

I understand. But if that is even the case then I still stand by what I said. Time to get over it Iona. Be happy it happened not sour that it ended. And because they are so close we need to read his BS and the ass kissing the media gives his BS constantly until the day he finally gets sick of this situation and leaves or retires for real. I have a gaping wound that a lot time is needed to heal! |

And because they are so close we need to read his BS and the ass kissing the media gives his BS constantly until the day he finally gets sick of this situation and leaves or retires for real. I have a gaping wound that a lot time is needed to heal! It's an unhealthy obsession harping on people who aren't here. Id like to limit my unhealthy obsession to the Iona team they field this year! (And the Mets but that's much worse). There's still a damn thread on this forum that people keep chiming into! At least make a highlight video of just Shema highlights from the year and end with him holding the trophy! Now that would be a clever way to poke fun at RP! |

ESPN will probably use any means available to promote the Jimmy V foundation. I know I might be wrong, but would like to hear what others think. Agree about ESPN and the V Foundation. Very good point |

The problem with retiring jerseys and having ceremonies is that it is so subjective and no matter what we do, we are bound to leave someone deserving out. To address this issue, many schools have a specific criteria to make this process a bit more objective and unbiased. I would be all in favor of this at Iona. Look at UNC’s criteria as an example:
At least one of these criteria must be met to qualify for a retired jersey at UNC:
- Associated Press Player of the Year
- Naismith College Player of the Year
- John R. Wooden Award
- Sporting News Player of the Year
- Oscar Robertson Trophy
- National Association of Basketball Coach of the Year
Obviously the criteria would look very different at Iona, but I think we would be well served to establish something like this. This way we can honor legends of the past without arguing over who gets in versus who doesn’t.
