I wonder if any of V’s family members will be on-hand?
Not that they have any control over it, but it’s irked me for years that at least one of V’s teams isn’t represented in his tournament each year.
Big Jeff needs to be next.

I think that Jeff and Jimmy V should have been honored at the same time. For obvious reasons. School might feel that by honoring only JV, that we would get more recognition.

Aren't we honoring him because of his induction into the Naismith HOF? Just like Richie Guerin up there? When Jeff is inducted into the HOF, will give him a similar banner. |

bill, as far as I know it is up to Iona to 'put up' a banner, in order to honor someone.

If Naismith recognition is a prerequisite Bill, then FURP could be considered. I would never want to see that… On the broadcast last night they said Valvano was going up because he went into the HOF. Does not mean that has to be the criterion for anyone else. But that is what they said. |

With such a rich history Iona has a lot of catch up time to recognize all that should have been: Ruland, Burtt , Cluess all more than deserve it immediately. Maybe Iona can be like the Mets, who had rarely retired numbers, but now seem like they will every year going forward. Iona needs to start doing the same. |
