Feel like it wouldn’t hurt Tobin to have a veteran basketball mind on the bench to bounce some things off of. Is Tim Cluess really possibly interested in being an assistant as I thought someone said? Highly doubt this would happen but can’t see how this wouldn’t help.

He always iced knees when on the bench And does he always walk with a limp? Tretout turned his ankle, so he was playing with a sprained ankle when he came back in.

Informal poll: even with the defensive/overall collapse over the last 5 minutes, isn't Iona a better team than they were even 3 weeks ago?
If you don't say yes, I can't help you.
Totally sucked to give this one away, but it was a road game against a team that just improved to 14-4 today. We've made strides. We'll keep making them.

I’d be curious to know what we learned from this game…. Let me start by saying I’m not looking to blame the loss on anybody, least of all coach TA. However, I just listened to the post game presser and one series of comments really disturb me. Coach said several times that Quinny is a very good offensive team; that they are good or great shooters. Well today’s loss and most games this season are earmarked by the same weakness. We give up too many points on simple layups and not great shooting. It may well be the terrific pressure we put on the ball, on the perimeter, that is the problem. I’m not a coach and don’t know the answer, but we did not lose today to a great shooting team. Like a lot of coaches Tobin is wedded to his system (evidenced by his response to the question “why didn’t you consider a zone” when he responded “we do what we do” and shrugged. However, he’s a smart and talented coach. I expect he will incorporate a response in the form of some defensive wrinkles in practice. It took Cluess years to change some things defensively (at least in March) to start racking up the MAAC titles. Let's see if Tobin sticks to his guns when games really are must win come tournament time.

Tobin is in his second D1 season; he'll tweak what he's doing over time as well.

Yes definitely improved but some of what we did the last 5 minutes was puzzling. And what a difference a win vs a loss would be today. Hard to accept this loss, I know all that really matters is the maac tourney but the way we play in close games I don’t have much confidence we have what it takes to win the tourney.

Iona is right in the middle of the pack, but 5 of the 7 games we've played are ahead of us. We blew out the 2 teams we played that are behind us. Important.

Response to poll; Losses to SPU, Niagara, and Quinnipiac in last 2 (not 3) weeks. Quinnipiac 14-4 schedule weak that you have acknowledged. Don’t “help me,”

Let's see if Tobin sticks to his guns when games really are must win come tournament time. Cluess finished his first year of D1 25-12 Yes; Cluess was an exceptional offensive coach from the start and also had far more talented offensive players than Tobin does now. But Cluess’ version of defense was horrible in those early years, and resulted in some head scratching losses and near losses. Cluess adapted. Tobin will too.

Right now the goal IMO just needs to be Top 5 MAAC spot and grab the bye. It is not going to be an easy task, but we can do it.
