Rider will be a tough test on Sunday. They've won their last 3 games, including road wins at St. Peter's and Mount St. Mary's. They just beat Siena by 41 points, shooting 12-19 (62%) from distance and had 15 steals against the Saints while only committing 5 turnovers themselves. I'd feel a lot better if we had Idan back in the lineup, which doesn't seem likely unfortunately.

But Iona is firing on all cylinders right now compared to earlier in the year. Yes FT shooting still is bad and that really worries me in a close 1 and done game, but look at that start from yesterday. That buries most teams, especially Iona earlier this year. I have been very critical of some older guys here when it looked like there was an effort issue (and there was again at the beginning of this game. Lot of standing around). But they have seemed to snap out of that and finally bought into Tobin's system. Tobin coached a great game but 1 thing I still don't get a bit is why are you pressing with a 2 possession lead late in the game? You allow odd numbers going to other way if you get beat which leads to open shots. I did notice a couple of possessions that they didn't press but then went back to it. Idk just something that makes me scratch my head a bit. |

My only question about the game had to do with the end of the game when FF was fouling in order to stop the clock. Over the recent years we would give the ball to Cedric Casmir or Walter Clayton and let the other team send them to the line. This year we have a PG who fits that description, JQ, and yet it seemed that we didn't try to inbound the ball to him. For the night he was 7-7 from the foul line, and I cringed seeing JB and GG (who did come through) handling the ball late in the game. And I don't think it was a question of FF keeping him from getting the ball.

Sorry for going off-topic on this tread but I don't want to start a new one and this seems like as good a place as any to ask this question. This site on my phone has changed to desktop format, which makes it very difficult to read. There used to be a button at the bottom of the thread that let you convert it to mobile format. I don't see that any longer. Any advice? Thanks

When Fairfield was having no problem getting to the rim, Tobin did have them back off, and even went to a zone. 1st FF possession they got a pass right into the lane for a short jumper. Saw Tobin look at his assistants with his hands up, "now what". Went back to what's been working |
