From the beginning of the season I have said that I had no expectations for this team. Given the fact that we started with a new coach and only one player, Os Shema, I thought we may not win at all. Then. when GG quit on the team, these guys could have just mailed it in. They did not. I've stayed away from the board for a while because (even at the age of 72) I have been very busy practicing law and being in court. Since I argue with people most of the day I did not want to argue with what I thought was a lot of negativity on the board. Clearly, many of us have been spoiled by the tremendous success that Iona Men's Basketball has enjoyed over the years. Things didn't work out for us this season - it happens to the best of teams. I was proud of the effort tonight against FF. I was hoping that we could pull out a win, but it wasn't to be. I wish all who are graduating the best. Oz will always be a special Iona Gael in my mind. I hope that a number of players return next season. I feel confident that TA will get Iona back on a winning track. Win or lose I will be (as most of you will be) Iona University die=hard fans. Go Gaels!!! Great post. A sane contrast to some of the lunatic hot takes we’ve seen tonight. Program will be fine.

You’re nuts re the freshmen leaving. After tonight if Im Bates I am gone. Kids on fire and is not playing to allow Tretout to destroy the lead late in the game with NBA range three point bricks, turnovers, and sloppy plays. Bates made 2 3's tonight and he is going to cash in on that. The freshman are coming back next year

How the “frosh were treated all season”? That’s a pretty sweeping generalization. You forget how much playing time Quigley and Aranguren got? How many starts Sultan got? Wow. I'll give you Quigley, as he was our POY. JA was playing really well, but then saw his PT diminish, along with his confidence. Adewale got some starts, but only (for the most part) after Gordon left. We were told that defense was keeping Bates and Saunders tied to the bench, and also how they practiced. Brice was supposedly injured, so no PT for him. Over the years I've always heard that if you play well, you'll play. And then they see Tretout and Panzo perform, and on occasion they performed well, but even if they played like they did tonight, they still played. So that's why I think it fair to say, I don't think they got close to a fair shake. And you're certainly entitled to have a different opinion. Sultan started multiple games early in the season too. Bates earned additional playing time and received it. We don’t observe, much less run, the team practices, so neither you nor I really know how players are performing there. I do know that, at the college level, performance in practice generally determines playing time in games. However, as you note everyone is entitled to have their own opinion.

But to not play the hot hand down the stretch is the level of stubbornness that can drive kids to leave.

Tobin plays anyone else, but Idan and we win that game. How many times did he have to watch Idan turn it over or take a horrible shot and say to himself “hey he might not have it tonight” If Idan doesn't play we lose by 20

Thank you Oz! Tobin coached a bad game. We need a seasoned assistant to aid as a bench coach in games. Tobin coached a great game. Undermanned team that lost it's only legitimate shooting threat. Team played together and actually were picking each other up the last 2 nights for the first time this season. Y'all are crazy. Now I'm getting pissed off like Guy. Do not understand the negativity. Tonight proved to me that Tobin is our guy.

I hope I am wrong too but the NCAA has opened up a complete and effective free agency. Only catch is no one stays multiple years unless there is a lot of $$$. Each kid rightfully is going to want to either leave to test the waters of money, or leave because they do not like the school/atmosphere, or leave because they want to win and do not find this style/ idea to play all graduate transfers from losing programs to be a good idea. I think you guys are all going to be surprised at how OK we end up after all of this.

Thank you Oz! Tobin coached a bad game. We need a seasoned bench coach to help in games. I want a former HC who coached in a similar 1 Bid D1 league to be a guiding voice. I recall being made fun for suggesting this weeks ago glad someone else agrees. Tobin has coached in 2 1 bid leagues. Not sure what you think he doesn't understand?

We will lose a couple of players I'm sure. But likely to be coaches decision as much as player running to greener pastures.

If Idan doesn't play we lose by 20 That’s an educated response It's the truth. Idan is not a great player, but we don't have allot of choices and for every boneheaded play he makes he makes 3 good ones. We did not have anyone good enough to replace him. I thank him for his time here. He gave great effort the last 2 nights. All I could ask.

Tough loss. It was actually a very good game. Thought the missed free throw by Tretout out of the timeout with 2:30 to potentially tie the game at I believe 60 really hurt from a momentum standpoint. Really hard to give a 90% foul shooter like Leach 6 free throws from those fouls behind the arc. I know I harp on it all the time but there were some pivotal missed rebounds which compounded themselves as the game rolled along. I hope Tobin is successful in reloading our roster for next season. Hard to rebound with a small lineup

Brice can only transfer down based on his usage. So my guess is he stays. JQ is talented enough to transfer up as is Adewale IMHO. I think the other guys jump ship and bounce around as well Saunders was not given a fair shake. Losings no fun. Being on a team dominated by relentlessly playing ineffective graduate transfers is not fun and my guess is a lot if not all of them move on. You’re nuts re the freshmen leaving. The only one that might stay is JQ, but does he want to be the only returning player?
