Interesting.

For the record, in my game-by-game predictions I had Iona at 10-3, 2-0 at this point.
Relax, guys.

I'm relaxed, Guy -- just disappointed in tonight's performance. I am a bit concerned about Scott's tweet. He is correct, of course, and I hope that these guys work together. They're really something to behold when they do. I still see this as a special year for the Gaels.
Go Gaels!!!

I feel bad for the guys. That first half was an awful performance that cost them a chance at some great national recognition, imo.
Maybe this is a good wake-up call. I would've thought after a week to practice that the D would be better. But Z's right, there was a guy wide open in the corner all night long who buried 3's and had 21 pts. I think he was something like 4-23 before that from 3. I'm sure, however those were contested 3's.
If you want to be special at anything, it requires hard work. I dont care what it is or who you are.

10-3 is a fine record at this point with December behind us. What is disconcerting is that the team (and the coach) has a game like last night in them. Especially after the pain of St. Peter's. 90+ ppg is fun to watch but will not win championships. 40 minutes of smarts, defense, adjustments and intensity will.

Give the old ref (John Hughes0 credit for slowing down the game. He just couldn't get up and down the court in such a fast paced game. His solution, call LOTS of fouls which SLOW DOWN the game and give him time to catch his breath. His partners caught on pretty quickly, and the game got out of hand.

The team was not prepared well and did not execute. This team has got to have a more blue collar attitude. They sailed in here tonight believing their own headlines. Coach needs to rip some new assholes after this game..... zero excuses..... we sucked. Yes sir. I did see some promise out of Rashad James tonight though, Kid plays hard James played well on defense, rebounded well, and had a great follow up dunk, but him chucking up that 3 when Iona was down 67-60 with 6 minutes left was an awful decision and it killed Iona's momentum. The game pretty much ended there. If Iona scores there, I really think Hofstra gets rattled and the Gaels win. I also questioned Cluess having James in the game in final minutes with 2 good 3 point shooters (Armand and Jenkins) sitting on the bench. If he was trying to send a message, fine. If he was trying to win the game, it was a very strange choice.

You cant claim "best in NYC" and "Top 50" with a showing like that. We're a good team but we need to beat the locals.
Credit to Hofstra. Back to basics.

For the record, in my game-by-game predictions I had Iona at 10-3, 2-0 at this point. Relax, guys. Sent from my ADR6300 using ProBoards Agree but most of us got carried away that this was close to a top 25 team. It isn't. A MAAC championship certainly can be obtained. It is a game by game view for a while. I for one am leaving the top 25 talk to others.

Are you talking about the "WTF"? look that I caught a glimpse of on the videocast? Taaj kinda just shrugged his shoulders. Yes exactly. Saw Glovers brother there. big boy. He should teach Mike how to rebound. Are you talking about Anthony? If so, he could take rebounding lessons from Mike. Anthony averaged 6.2 rebounds per game for his career. Mike averages 9.8, which is probably more than any Gael since Ruland. Except for Smyth, Glover was the only one who played well last night 20 pts, 13 reb, 3 blocks 9-11 FGs. Speaking of Smyth, seeing him back on the court (and draining 3's) was the one bright spot from last night.

I for one never thought of us as a Top 25 team - Top 40 is more like it.
Regardless, being a Top 25 team doesn't mean you can't go out an lay an egg once in a while. Let's remember what unranked Wagner just did to #11 Pitt on their home court.
Last night was disappointing. Give credit to Hofstra for playing a great game and let's take it out on the MAAC beginning with the destruction of Sienna on Tuesday night.
