I hope it is not true. Iona deserves an NIT be at worst. However, if you do play Quinnipiac, Iona should, and I hope they do, kick Q's but!

Just made the case for Iona in the NIT to Francesa. He didn't care. Would love a game at Quinny.

I'd be fine at Quinny as well. We'd win the game in a beautiful building that we can all get to. But yes, would MUCH rather have the NIT.

Just saw a rumor on Twitter that we may be playing at Quinny in a CIT game. I'd be shocked at this, unless someone at Iona talked to the NIT and they confirmed that we have no shot of getting in. Seems unlikely that we'd do this if we're truly on the NIT bubble, which we are. But we'll see. Could be Cluess/Lyons setting up a back-up plan if the NIT falls through.

Quiny is currently 144 RPI - my first question is why is a 144 RPI team in any post season tournament? That aside, if Iona has already been told that the Gaels are not in the NIT conversation, that simply further supports the position that the NCAA is dominated by politics and Vinny was right about only 1 MAAC team need apply! I have somewhere between little and no respect for the NCAA!

If we are in the CIT come Sunday night, we'd be one of the highest seeded teams in the tourney, so facing someone like Quinny in round 1 wouldn't be surprising. Why Quinny? -$$$$$. They can afford it.

Well, if we are playing quiny, we better be ready quickly. Quiny's opening round game is indeed at home and it is Monday night at 7 PM. This article gives some interesting information such as the comparative costs for entry to the 2 C-Tourneys and the fact that teams are given bids to the CIT pending their possible acceptance to either the NCAA or NIT. And if we know we are playing Quiny on Monday night, I have to believe Iona would be announcing that and selling tickets as we speak. This leads me to suspect we are, in fact, still in the NIT conversation. www.americanchronicle.com/articles/yb/156680714

Just to be playing a game after the way we went out on Monday, would be refreshing. If we go into this with the right attitude, Iona could have its first post season championship ever. Just saying those words is exciting!!

JMO these "C" tournaments are insignificant.

Again, I think it makes a BIG deal when recruiting to say that you were a postseason team, especially if you make a run and win the damn thing (and IMO we'd be one of the favorites to win either tournament if we're healthy). Plus, we have almost everyone back next year. The more minutes we can get Armand, Pelch, Randy, etc, the better.

My frugal side can't see the value.

$30K is a drop in the bucket. They could raise the extra $ in a couple hours. What irks some people is how easily the athletics program can raise $ as opposed to some people pet projects. They are mistaken to think that $ sent to Goal club is $ not available for other areas.
Let's reward the players for a good year. We're talking $3k per player.

Remember " Dare to Dream" in the 70's? Remember how much it did to enhance the Iona's national image? Do not think it did not help turn Iona into the institution that it is today. Imagine saying "great idea, but we can't justify it because it cost $31,000" Got to spend it to make it

My point exactly, I don't think participating in one of the C tournaments enhances Iona's national imagine one iota!
