Apparently, CIT has already filled 14 of its spots. That would leave only 10 more to go after NIT is filled. Many teams are waiting to see if the NIT picks them. Iona is among them of course.

Don't forget, we'll host a chat tomorrow night during the NIT selection show. If we are not picked, last year that Chicagonow site did a great job updating rapid-fire as the C tourney fields filled up. I'll never forget that chat last year. Casey Stanley was supposedly on his way to East Rutherford, NJ. to pickup film of whoever our opponent would be. Than, poof... the whole C thing is full and Iona isn't amomg the teams listed. Jaws drop in disbelief. At 86 we are the ONLY team in the top 100 that has to pack the balls away. What a shame. On an NIT note, I just took a look at the makeup of the 8 member selection committee and from what I can tell only 2 have mid-major ties. That being said, I'm afraid our chances are pretty slim.

Richmond knocks off #25 Temple in the A-10 semis. A glimmer of hope. How's McNeese State doing?

Princeton hits a shot with 0.2 seconds left to deny Harvard its first trip to the NCAA's since 1946. Wow 62-61

Coming back from a 9 pt deficit and with a chance to tie the game with 7.5 secs left, McNeese St. player steps on the baseline. Was concerned for a moment there was something awry in the Universe and we were gonna get a break. McNeese St. loses.

Just too many upsets, more than any year ever since they made the 1 seeds get automatic bids into NIT. It figures it happens when we are on NIT bubble. I think Nit is a long shot.
Best thing going for us is Richmond. We now have a top 50 win. Don't think committees put much credence into margin of victory, Iona is +10, putting us around the top 35 in the country. This is why we rank so high with Omni. Maybe just maybe this factor gets more consideration than we may think. Its Iona's best chance to get NIT bid.

I am not handling the loss well. Every time I see anything about an NCAA bid I am in pain. I will watch the NCAA selection show tomorrow with a dream that our name will appear knowing very well it won't. I need to move on!
If Trinity Fields hits that 3 I think we win. When he was taking it I really felt like it was going to go in and that he was finally going to get his due. Just not meant to be, SPC has had much tougher times so at least a team who really wanted and needed it gets the bid, just wish it was us instead.
It could be worse, we could be Harvard. Now that loss was the ultimate tough loss! 65 years!

With the Kent St. loss we're done as far as an NIT bid is concerned.
As joebird said, a record number (10 so far) of automatic bids given out this year to regular season winners who choked in their conference tourneys. It figures this has to happen in a year where we'd otherwise be an NIT lock. The stars just aren't alligned for this post season.
So which is better the CIT or the CBI? Wasn't Gloves award from College Insiders - the CIT organizers? Maybe they'll want us more.

Long Beach St loses in the Big West final.
Unbelievable. Of the 20 one bid conferences that have tourneys, 13 were won by lower seeds.
